Artwork

June was #junicorn. SO MUCH #JUNICORN. Here's the landing page, showing all 30 unicorn pieces that I did. http://ellenmillion.dreamwidth.org/1604777.html

I did 6 of the #junicorn ACEOs for the June Sketch Fest. https://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&date=88

I also did some Portrait Adoptions: https://portraitadoption.com/portrait.php?id=2941 and https://portraitadoption.com/portrait.php?id=2947 and http://portraitadoption.com/portrait.php?id=2949

I released this piece at Torn World:

(This was the first five exclusive pieces I did for the July issue of Color On! Magazine.)

And this also went up at Torn World: http://www.tornworld.net/artpageview.php?id=543

Writing

I wrote just shy of 15k words on my next not-a-book. *panting*

Other

Summer camp was AWESOME.

Two movies in the theatre: Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Wonder Woman, both wonderful.

Artwork

I only did two sketches for the May Sketch Fest, but both of them spanned into full coloring pages that I released at Torn World for Sea Monster Month. Arguing Over Dinner also became my Patreon perk:

I also did this one: http://www.tornworld.net/artpageview.php?id=554

At Muse Fusion, I did this painting:

I also did two sketches that didn't go anywhere, and two sketches I finished into coloring pages! http://www.tornworld.net/artpageview.php?id=553 and http://www.tornworld.net/artpageview.php?id=552

And, miraculously, finished this painting that I started last year:

I also did this for a client:

In total, 4 complex coloring pages from sketch to finish, another inked piece, a teeny painting, and I finished a giant painting. Go, me!

Writing

A poem up at Torn World for subscribers from our previous Muse Fusion, "Tokens, Time, and Fire": http://www.tornworld.net/storypageview.php?id=614

I set a goal of 500 words/day, which I didn't quite meet, but I did get a little over 10,000 words written, which is a LOT for me!

Have you missed some of my creative updates over the last month? I'm doing monthly roundups to try to keep some sense in the chaos!

April started late - I spent the first several weeks doing a whirlwind grandparent tour of three different states. I attempted #faepril, but burned out after 7 or eight of them, and wasn't particularly happy with any of them. I was also working ridiculous hard on exclusive work that I won't be able to show off until July (except to Patreon patrons!), so it was a brief month from the outside...

Artwork:

My big release was this painting, for 78Tarot:

I also did three rough sketches for Sketch Fest #86: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&date=86
All of them were for my failed #faepril attempt, none of them were very polished!

Other:

Livejournal's insistence on adding advertising for visitors (despite my paid account!) was the final nail in that coffin, and I imported my journal to Dreamwidth, which is where my primary blogging now is.

I had a cold for a few weeks of the month. When I went to the doctor, they said 'walking pnemonia?' I said PLBT! and refused to get xrays, and was better then next week.

Artwork

At Portrait Adoption:

At Sketch Fest, I did 6 (!) pieces, 3 coloring page sketches, 2 little paintings (for Torn World, below), and a toned paper portrait sketch (finished as a portrait, above).

For Torn World:

(several more were posted at the site, but they're part of April's update because that's when I released them in my blog.)

I did sketches at the Morris Thompson complex, including this one:

(Patreon patrons got more sketches.)

Writing

STILL NONE. (Okay, I did a little outlining.)

Other

A bear photo of Guppy on her birthday:

I re-coded Torn World to use the database of the rest of EMG. It was a MASSIVE upgrade, and I also added Muse Fusion functionality at the site itself.

I also worked on several projects that wouldn't be released until much later!

Have you missed some of my creative updates over the last month? I'm doing monthly roundups to try to keep some sense in the chaos! - More catch-up! February looked unremarkable, too, because I was working on a MAJOR secret project. Patreon patrons got a lot of sneak previews of the project, but publicly, I was pretty quiet.

Artwork:

I did this piece for a submitted description:

We did landscaping at our house, completely transforming the downhill side of our house in particular. It may actually qualify as a yard now, not just a tangled wilderness of junk we don't know where else to put and scruffy willows.

Everyone in the house was sick at one point during the month, some of us worse than others.

Finished the artwork for and released Wild Teas of Alaska! http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/coloringbook.php?id=75

Flooded the basement being dumb and ended up dismantling, drying, and reorganzing my entire studio.

Got new furniture for Guppy and completely rearranged her room into something MUCH better. Which was my favorite Guppy photo of the month:

I officially threw in my hat for #junicorn, a challenge to do 30 unicorn sketches in 30 days, and turned out 1 sketch and 29 ACEO cards, in color!

This is the first few, the rest are here: http://ellenmillion.com/galleryview.php

I did five pieces for Sketch Fest, most of them also for #junicorn: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&date=76

I also updated my page with the pages from Wildflowers of Alaska, including the not-posted-yet Lupine and Columbine.

Writing

I added another several thousand words to my not-a-book #2, and got it off for edits again.

Other

I got seven new coloring books printed (and two re-printed) and fulfilled ALL of my Kickstarter rewards (except the custom piece, due in November). DUDE.

Updated my webpage pretty extensively, both my personal one, and EMG, which gained galleries of colored example pieces!

I was brave and bold about my own career opportunities, and it's paid off in scary spades.

Patreon perk was a coloring page, Summer Bubbles.

I for real released Tentacle Friends, which had been seen in several places already and shown off on the cover of Serenitrix: http://ellenmillion.com/artpageview.php?id=304

I officially released several of the sea monster pieces that had been included in From the Deep, including Master of the Deep, Deathfin Bookmark, and Dreamskate with Sunken Ship.

I did this artist's challenge, #artvsartist

Writing

Most of this month, my not-a-book was out for edits, and I didn't do much that was new. Alas! Most of my writing was for Kickstarter updates and promotional things.

Other

I did wrap up a big Kickstarter this month, and start the process of laying out and proofing seven new coloring books!

We also went on a long camping trip for our birthday weekend, and Guppy and Mom and I went on a train trip to Denali and between those two, I took about a thousand photos.

It feels like a slim month on content.

I did two sketches at Sketch Fest, for a new fabulous NSS (not so secret) project.

I finished and soft-released Tentacle Friends, as the cover to Serenitrix:

(I just realized I haven't actually released the artwork in any other form yet - I'll do that tomorrow!)

I officially released 5 of Wands:

I wrote a description of it, too: http://ellenmillion.livejournal.com/1568168.html

I released Maiden, Mother, Crone:

and finished and released Rose Angel:

I finished and released Vetch Dragon (though technically he is a wyvern...):

Writing:

I wrote 12k words on my novella. O.o It's only two middle half-scenes from being finished. My previous novella continued to make non-insignificant amounts of money, too!

Other Things:

I got my business approved for Made in Alaska!

I got my coloring books into a new shop downtown.

I launched a Kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1624616265/more-fantasy-coloring-books-for-so-called-grown-up

I made and released four sampler pages: Wildflowers of Alaska, Garden Sprites, Fishtank Fantasies, and Equine Enchantment.

I went three days (just prior to my Kickstarter launch) without Internet at home. VERY VERY STRESSFUL.

I co-hosted a coloring tea party that was a great success and wonderful fun.

I took the Christmas tree to the dump.

The high resolution version of this was my Patreon perk for January.

Four sketches for Sketch Fest: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&date=71
One of them I started inking for a coloring page (and finished this month).

Writing

I wrote about 9000 words, all on my fluff-novella.

I released my first fluff-novella on Amazon, under a Super Secret pseudonym, and it did better than I had any reason to expect, peaking at #152 in all paid Kindle books. I have made as much with this in about two weeks than I did with my own art the entire year of 2015, I think. There is a reason that I am making the next one my writing priority!

Other

I upgraded the EMG coloring book page significantly! The first two sampler pages went up, for Dotminatrix and the Collected Faeries of Victoria Griffin.

1099 tax stuff. (Whee)

Worked on the bathroom - paint and plaster, and shelves, oh my! It looks like an honest to gosh bathroom!

(Secret Santa artwork. Pastels are MESSY.)

2 (very rough) sketches for Sketch Fest: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&date=70

A few more gift ornaments were painted. Some I am not sharing until I know that they have been safely received...

Writing

Finish edits on my novella. It has a cover and blurb and is ready for publication in February. I am ready to be off writing something else now.

Other

Seriously? Can I be DONE with illness now for a few years? I was still recovering from my November illness-of-doom at the beginning of the month, and just as I decided I felt fully human again, I got nailed with some of the worst stomach flu of my life. Ugh!

I got all of my art supplies beautifully organized into a tool chest. Now, instead of double-stacked boxes of mystery supplies I can't get to easily, I have silky sliding drawers of artistic goodness, all at my fingertips. My studio is - for the first time in YEARS - a place of organized bliss, and a place I want to go work.

Kept local retailers stocked in coloring books and got orders out swiftly - generally within 24 hours, always within 48.

I did gifts this year! Not a LOT, but a more extended list than I usually get done.

We got sheetrock up in the bathroom! And I've even given the seams tape and two coats of mud already!

Five of my recent favorite pieces went up this month, exclusive coloring pages for the November issue of Color On! I was the featured artist, and they interviewed me, as well:http://coloronmag.com/article/a-chat-with-ellen-million/

This was probably my favorite. :) But it was a hard choice.

3 new portraits went up at Portrait Adoption, all from Inktober.

I skipped Sketch Fest, for the first time in years! *hangs head in shame* (I had good reasons, see below!)

A few pieces leftover from #Inktober:

Up at River Twine:

Writing

I did a pretty good rounds of edits on my novella. (A second round occurred in December, and it is scheduled for publication in February... I am pretty serious about not working during my January off.)

Other

I finished up another Kickstarter! My third one, and successful, but not as wildly successful as my first two. I have many theories on this, but the largest is that it was a pretty high buy-in.

UWA bazaar and PopCon - the same weekend. They were awesome, but I'm not doing two shows in a weekend like that again.

Released four new coloring books: Wildflowers of Alaska (with Layla Lawlor), Christmas Sprites (Mitzi's new mini book) and new editions of Dotminatrix and Fantastrix... with new color covers.

Was ill for three weeks of the month with some wretched head cold/virus that included infected eyes and ears, which lead to a perforated eardrum, and a lingering cough.

Art

Finally! After a dry few months, I had actual artwork to share!

I only did two pieces for Sketch Fest, but one of them was finished for a holiday card:

This was part of #inktober - I finished 31 pieces in 31 days! Some of them I've shared, more of them I haven't:

(Sold)

Many of those pieces became available portraits; 8 were posted and 1 adopted: http://portraitadoption.com/paartist.php?profile=9

Scars, an illustration posted at River Twine: http://www.rivertwine.com/artpageview.php?id=2630

Two pieces were posted to Torn World: Silk-hare and Favorite Doll

I also did new color for the revised cover of Dotminatrix:

Old version on the left, new on the right. A marked improvement, and worth the time it took.

I also painted about 40 ornaments.

Writing

I finished my novella!! I'm hoping to give it some polish on Thursday during preschool and send it off to where it goes next. Then, maybe I can start on some of the other ideas in my head.

Other

I finished laying out and proofing two new coloring books: Wildflowers of Alaska and Christmas Sprites. They will be officially released later this week once I've got stock.

And I launched the subscription Kickstarter, and we funded in 48 hours! Horrah! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1624616265/monthly-fantasy-coloring-books-for-adults
