I went in to have a tooth cleaning today, and found out I had a cavity. It's better to fix cavities before you have to start talking crowns and such, so I said 'do it,' and they said, 'right now?' There was just enough time before I picked up Guppy to get it done, so I did, and then had a droopy face and aching jaw. I ditched the rest of the running around I was thinking about doing, and am honestly super grumpy right now. I floss every day, dammit. It was a crack, from grinding my teeth, apparently. And since I wear a night guard, religiously, it's daytime grinding.

Anyway.

Here's the artwork currently on my desk. I'm finishing two coloring pages for a magazine feature, then I'll have one or two more to do. I couldn't pick SIMPLE things to do while on deadline, could I. No, I had to do tricky perspective, architecture, and insanely detailed pieces with multiple figures.

(I've made a few adjustments since this photo, and begun the inking...)

I'm also getting a little writing done nearly every day. Sometimes that's just a few hundred words. Yesterday, I got about 1200... by getting up at 4 AM. Though to be fair, I thought I was getting up at 5 AM, because I hadn't set my watch to Alaska time yet. And also, I went back to bed and got another hour of sleep.

Now I'm going to go attempt to do both of those things, while Guppy tries to get out of quiet time by 'having to go potty. For an hour.'

I'm going to be a bit shameless here, but the last few days, I have hit it out of the park, and I am pleased with myself. Bear with me. Or skip this. I'd understand.

Let me demonstrate with my list from Friday:

140 words for 78 Tarot description.
Release 78tarot art as promised last week. (Oops! I honestly thought I had!)
Z. cameo drawing.

Finish Tentacle Friends
500 words on novella 6000+ words. Booyeah.

Because I am THAT awesome.

I also scanned Tentacle Friends, and Maiden, Mother, Crone, and took a nearly 2 mile hike with the daughter through the snow, and packed up some orders, and did some administrative stuff, and worked on my Kickstarter. (A huge shout-out to the husband, because there were No. Naps.) I am particularly pleased with the wordcount - 6000! That's... not quite a weekend record for me, probably my next best. My novella is to 19500, and I'm loving it.

(And to be fair, it did take 2 days instead of one to cross everything off, but I'm still chuffed.)

I had to share. Back to your regularly scheduled programming now. Carry on!

This was the final stretch in progress...

As much as it was starting to feel like spring - there were even some confused pussy willows blooming! - it is still March, in Alaska, and it should not be a shock that we got more snow. About four inches of light fluffy stuff, where we live, and it made everything pretty again. It's also gotten cold again, down to close to zero, so I've had a fire in the woodstove, which is lovely and cozy.

In the last few days, I've written a few hundred measly words, made a few minor site improvements (particularly, I've made the PA page formally not recognize non-PA artists), and worked on crazy-detailed coloring book art.

I've also got a new coloring book sampler page available for download and coloring:

You can download the high resolution PDF here: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/coloringbook.php?id=36

I've got monsterus minimus distracted with How to Train Your Dragon for a few moments, so I'm going to go do more work now!

I forgot to post about this here last week:

Over the weekend, we got some cabinets moved around in the kitchen and conquered a disaster area. (You know the type - it collects things you don't know where to put, until its an eclectic array of bottles and lunchboxes and things you temporarily wanted out of Guppy's reach, and gosh, I thought I'd thrown that out already....) We also worked on the bathroom sink - we have a vanity, and the faucet is attached to it (but not yet to water), and the exit plumbing is several steps closer to being hooked up. It looks so wonderfully bathroom-y in there!

I also have been nose-to-grindstone on artwork for the next collection of coloring books. On my desk now are these two still in pencil:

Guppy is being new levels of needy and clingy this morning, so that it for my time right now.

I got an hour of writing at the bakery this morning during preschool - the tea shop was not open when I arrived, but the bakery in the same stripmall was open. It's busier, which is less good for me, but I still knocked out 1400 words and got my story up to 11750, with actual plot and action happening! (I KNOW!)

I got MMC (Maiden, Mother, Crone) final-sketched last night and started to ink it this afternoon during Guppy's (reluctant) nap.

I'm crazy happy with this one right now. And am already sketching my next.

The deadline for submissions to my coloring books is next week, and there are a number of pieces I'd still like to do. Insanity. I has it. (On that note, I am THRILLED with some of the submissions I'm getting in. These are going to be some gorgeous coloring books.)

At one point this morning in the car I coughed pretty well.

"It sounds like you have lung in your mouth," Guppy told me.

So I guess I'm not entirely healthy yet...

I think I started last Monday's entry talking about how I was recovering. This time, I REALLY mean it. I have heaps more energy than I have in at least a week, and although my voice is still rough, and I have a cough, there is no more pain in my chest, throat or sinuses. (And no more fever, yay!)

I was well enough over the weekend to do some more artwork without risking snotmarks, so I finished the mermaid (to be released later!), and refined this piece:

We also got the lights in the kitchen fixed - they've been on the fritz since Christmas, and this weekend we replaced the ballasts and put in new bulbs. BAM. My kitchen is well-lit again. Last week, we also replaced the fixtures above the dining room table, and my drawing space is GORGEOUSLY lit now. And we even put one in the entryway, too, which is a lovely spot of light where there used to be a dark hole. I'm wishing we'd done this months ago during the very dank dark.

A Guppy is climbing on me asking for lunch now, so I'm off to make some. Otherwise, she is threatening to eat toys.
