Ugliest. Pizza. Ever.

There were spots where the dough tore through, and the crust in general was a little thin and tough (where it wasn't folded up on itself). The avocados were good, but a little mild for the sauce and salami. The baking quality was fine. I ate three slices, so it couldn't have been too awful.

Taste: B
Texture: D+
Modifiers: I was hungry.

Overall score: C-

Passed, but not with flying colors. I think I might like the pizza stone, but I will never, ever use even a marginally sticky crust on it. I may experiment with baking parchments.

nothing edible is a complete loss
probably more practice is in order, that paddle work seems to be harder than it looks.
now I'm hungry for pizza myself

My husband plotted for awhile (not really) to try to get Vinny to hire him at College Town so he could work his way up and learn how to make the pizza dough and then bring it home just so he could have tasty crust all the time. Then Vinny went and dashed his hopes by telling him that he's the only one that makes the dough; everybody else just uses what Vinny premakes. :)

Thinking of pizza dough reminded me of this.
I've never tried sourdough pizza crust. I might have to sometime.

I've had good luck with parchment paper. Even things with an egg wash have come off of it without difficulty.

The pizza doesn't look that bad from here. :)

The last pizza I tried to make from scratch ended up as a calzone, I think you can imagine how.

Hahaha! Thanks for the visual. That poor pizza.... but even malformed I'm still getting hungry! X3 At least it was home-made?

Your whole story gave me a good giggle!

Wow, an epic pizza experiment! I followed this story with interest, I love pizza absolutely to death but trying to make it with any degree of finesse completely escapes me. I think my worst pizza looked worse than this... actually.. this is making my mouth water! XD

it is not a disaster if it can make the reader hungry even if the key signifiers are 'squishy' and 'ugly' :"D

I loves my pizza stone :) I use a really basic flour recipe for my base, only needs 15min of rising so it's pretty quick. I'd love your sour dough recipe though, I love sour dough :)

Anyways, pizza stones rock, especially if you roll your base fairly thin because then the stone can't be beaten for crispiness yums.
