She's got one life to live

Anita takes a chance at a job she's not sure she can handle and she's tickled pink when the gorgeous billionaire picks her little bakery to cater his big charity event. But what was supposed to be the opportunity of a lifetime turns into the storm of a century.

He's got one leg to stand on

Frank Wilson has built his reputation and his world-spanning lawn ornament business on one tenant: honesty. There's nothing fake about Frank Wilson -- not his fabulous fortune or his amazing physique.

...or his inner flamingo.

Trapped together with his fated mate in his big empty office building with a thousand gourmet cupcakes and no power, Frank is sure that -- finally -- nothing will stand between him and everything that he'd ever wanted, in the arms of a curvy woman wearing an apron. The only problem is, she's not interested in settling down to join his flock.

And to win her heart, he's going to have to put his foot down.

Larry has the perfect life. He travels from casino to resort using his keen lizard shifter skills to win at cards, with no care in the world...until he meets a virgin seal shifter named Shea at the bar of a little place called Shifting Sands Resort...

Shea has clearly lived a sheltered, coddled life of luxury, always protected from life's rougher elements and things like card sharks and cheats.

Now Larry has a week to clean up his act, woo his mate, and concoct a life that won't scare away a sweet innocent thing like her.

But Shea isn't as pure and virtuous as she appears. As a mantis shifter, she knows it is her destiny to find her mate...and eat him.

Can a lucky lizard and a vicious man-eater find happiness on the golden beaches of Shifting Sands?

Both of these fabulous titles are coming...never*! Happy April Fools' Day!

*Maybe.

Gryphon of Glass is here at last! I've been working on this book since JULY. Because 2020.

Floofy tiny gryphons! Grumpy cats! Kick-ass heroines and clueless knights from other worlds figuring out toasters and paper napkins and pizza!

This is book 3 of Fae Shifter Knights, and although it is a stand alone book, you'll probably enjoy reading the series in order: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081YGVB3H - all of them can be read in Kindle Unlimited!

I humbly think that it's one of my favorite battle scenes that I've ever written.

This book is really special to me. I mean, I'm sure that authors say that all the time, but this book? This one hit me right in the heart - and it's free until Monday!

When I first introduced Gizelle in Tropical Tiger Spy, way back when I was a baby writer, I only knew that the then-nameless gazelle was going to play an important role. I didn't realize how important...and initially, I had no plans to pair her up with a mate of her own.
But readers asked, and I couldn't resist.

This was one of the hardest books I've written - it was a whole pile of tricky balances. Gizelle is innocent, but not at all a child. Conall, in some ways, is as damaged as she is...and she spent her childhood in a zoo! It was the first time I wrote a deaf character, and for the first half of the book, they can't even touch each other. Gizelle's growth and bravery - through this book and this whole series - is a big part of the Shifting Sands series.

I love this book so much. It's funny and hopeful even while it's sometimes heartbreaking, and I especially love how it shows how much love and support the Shifting Sands staff has for each other.

Although this is book 7, you can drop into the series from this book and read it without picking up any of the rest of them - it stands alone and the end is satisfying and complete. It's Gizelle's first Christmas! Discover the holiday, and the magic of love.

I am delighted to announce that I have short stories in two new charity anthologies that are available now!

His Magical Pet: Have a shot of concentrated joy, with nine stories of men in love... and their adorable magical pets!

All proceeds from the collection will be donated to OutRight Action International, which fights for the rights of LGBTQIA people worldwide.

In this enchanting collection, supervillain husbands apply to adopt a cat, a dog with wings helps old friends confess hidden desires, a tour guide for an island of magical New Zealand wildlife falls for a visiting naturalist, and much, much more!

My story is:

“Throw Me a Bone,” by Elva Birch. New werewolf Lucas is forced to masquerade as his own pet when he chases his runaway collie right into the yard of his neighbor crush.

There is a companion volume for women loving women, Her Magical Pet, in which I have TWO stories:

“Pawprints in the Snow,” by Zoe Chant. A lost cat leaves a path to love for a lonely snow leopard shifter.

“Memories of Magic,” by Elva Birch. An emergency vet gets an unexpected visit from a Christmas elf (not really) with a living plastic toy pegasus (really!)

I had a lot of fun writing all of these, and they are for a great cause. If you've got Kindle Unlimited, they are available in the program for just 90 days, and then they will be going wide. I am really excited to be in a table of contents with these amazing writers. <3

It's an incredibly weird time to be releasing books, but current world events weren't even on my apocalypse Bingo card when I started my schedule, so...here are some new books!

Broken Lynx, Book 5 of Green Valley Shifters, is a silly, fluffy, short shifter romance. It's low-peril, small town, and (sort of) single dad.

Zoe Chant's Series Starter Set is a collection of starter books to my three Zoe Chant series, Green Valley Shifters, Fae Shifter Knights, and Shifting Sands Resort. It is FREE until Friday!

Have an April Fool's Day piece of ridiculous:

It’s hell being this cute.

Ever since hellhound poodle shifter Packer Davis won an Internet prize for ‘cutest demonic shifter,’ his bodyguard business pack has made his life miserable. And no one wants to hire someone that’s fluffy and adorable. So when a mysterious client books him as a protective escort to a tropical resort for shifters only, he can’t pack his bags fast enough.

Cat shifter Christy Brown needs to get out of town and off the radar of some Very Bad People, and a discount booking at the newly reopened Shifting Sands Resort seems like the perfect escape. On a whim, she hires a bodyguard, sight unseen.

Cats and dogs aside, Christy and Packer know that they’re in for a wild ride as soon as they meet at the airport and recognize that they are fated mates. They aren’t expecting the stowaway in Christy’s luggage, or the fireworks waiting for them at the resort.

TROPICAL HELLHOUND’S HEARTBREAK, Book #11 in the off-beat Shifting Sands Resort series, coming NEVER, because this is just a silly April Fool’s Day bit of fun (please forgive me!) prompted by the title suggestions of readers James Born and Andrew William Bryan.

...except that now I kind of DO want to write it...and probably will. (As a short, not as a full-length!)

Christmas magic...in July?

Heather’s life is not entirely normal. She dresses as a holiday elf for one job and a medieval peasant for the other. She has an Italian Greyhound that fits in her purse. But now there’s a beautiful, buck-naked man standing in her apartment explaining that he’s a unicorn who was trapped in a glass Christmas ornament. And things are just about to get a whole lot weirder.

Rez, fae unicorn knight and defender of the broken crown, isn’t sure how he got to this magic-starved world or why the beauty who freed him from his glass prison has cast an enchantment on him. He only knows he has to find his shieldmates and return to his fight with the darkness before he loses himself to her charms (and those of her tiny hound) forever.

Dark forces from his fallen world are tracking them down. But Rez has much harder tasks at hand: battling a rogue vacuum cleaner, braving buses and BigMart, defending a hound’s honor at a Ren Faire...and facing dinner with Heather’s mother.

Heather and Rez will have to work together with old allies and new to find answers, discover the key to his magic, and unlock the power of his unicorn heart...before his enemies find a way to stop them forever.

UNICORN OF GLASS is a hot and hilarious standalone fae unicorn shifter adventure. For a side-splitting short paranormal romp, pick up a copy on Amazon today!

I had so much fun writing this one - it's heartwarming and funny and full of love.

Dragon of Glass will be out Nov 17!

ellenmillion: (Default)
So, that was a month!

Let's see:

I published two books: Tropical Leopard's Longing and DandeLION Season.
I also deleted massive amounts of DandeLION Season and wrote about 9,000 new words before publication.
I did edits and formatting for both books.
I wrote approximately 10,000 on Tropical Lion's Legacy
I did NINE pieces of artwork for the NDA project that will not die. (SOON IT WILL BE REVEALED!)
I hosted a birthday party for a seven-year-old-to-be. And survived.
I finished another hunky shifter coloring page (Bastian, not yet posted)
I did sketches for Sketch Fest and Muse Fusion, and a few random other sketches. I am rusty.
I started outlining Fatemaker stuff.
I pretty much knocked my goals out of the park.

For March:

Finish Tropical Lion's Legacy. It's at 20k, so probably another 20k of writing. I'm aiming at 1000 a day and we'll see where we get.

Release Bastian's page on Etsy. Or maybe a 10 page collection, now that I have enough!

FINALLY gush about the NDA project.

Outline Bearly Tolerable so I'm ready to hit it hard in April.

Do some art

Outline first Fatemaker book and create character sheets.

I finished a book yesterday. Well, revisions on a book. But I cut more than 10,000 words out of the old book and wrote 12,000 more, so it's BASICALLY a new book.

I also have a (different) book coming out on Wednesday, Shifting Sands book 8. (What?! Eight already?! How crazy is that. And I'm already a quarter of the way through book 9...)

I am also on the final stretch of an art project I've been working on for THREE years. SOON! Soon it will be out of non-disclosure! I am SO excited! I may cry when I have a copy in my hands.

There's a Muse Fusion this week: https://www.tornworld.net/musefusion.php

Come leave Torn World prompts, questions, and inspiration. I'm looking forward to doing some little things for it, since I finished my book and I because I know that launch week generally leaves me too scattered to focus on bigger things.

For now, Monsters, Inc. with the daughter, and hot tamales while I lie on the couch avoiding doing taxes.
ellenmillion: (Default)
Goodness, when did I last post? I won #inktober, but only by virtue of counting the ornaments I painted. (They were paint pens. Close enough.)

I put out a new book, Tropical Christmas Stag: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KDTW6P2

It is probably my favorite book that I've ever written, and arguably my best. It's not doing nearly as brilliantly as Tiger Next Door, but the reviews make me mist up happily, and I utterly loved writing it.

I have the sequel to Tiger Next Door drafted, but it still needs a pretty heavy round of revisions before I pass it on to first readers, and for NaNoWriMo, I'm working on the next Shifting Sands book, Breck's tale. I'm at 28,000, which is not up to speed to win NaNo, but I had to stop and work out several plot kinks (huh huh, kinks...) and I'm really liking how it comes together. It's a pretty bold premise for the romance genre, with a bisexual hero and a major asexual side character. (Plus magic and destiny and doomed duels, oh my!)

And in really exciting news, I got a Bookbub feature for the first box set of Shifting Sands scheduled for Dec 1 and I am trying not to think about it too hard. (Shut up, lizard-brain. I do so deserve this.)

I am taking a few moments off from building my wordcount to do a 2018 Chopping Block. It's long overdue, and has been weighing pretty heavily on me mentally. Look for that... soon, because I think it's going to feel like a pile of bricks off my brain.

The Kickstarter is done and went well - we ended up over 3x the goal and got all of our stretch goals, including this piece of artwork as a Kickstarter-only bonus page:

This was MEANT to be a random, generic lion shifter for my next coloring book when I first started on it, but it was totally Graham. (Of Shifting Sands)

I've also released this piece, that I've been just dying to share, but I didn't want to confuse the Kickstarter, because this is NOT in Splendrix.

This tragically handsome guy is Justin, star of Spy Snow Leopard: mybook.to/SpySnowLeopard - it is a Zoe book, but not MY Zoe book. I didn't write this one, but it's a fantastic book - lots of hurt/comfort and healing and people overcoming guilt and doubt. There are also food scenes that will make you honest-to-god drool. It is temporarily priced at $0.99, but only for another day!

In other things, Kindergarten comes to a close WAY too soon, I've approved the coloring books for printing, these are the VERY LAST coloring books I will be printing myself, and it has snowed three times in the last week and I am so very over winter.

April was amazing. And weird. And I feel like there were a lot of things I could have done better, but overall, it was good. If busy.

May looks no less busy.

Also: SEA MONSTER MONTH! I haven't decided what I'll do this year! Should I do sketch cards? I want to do a field guide to the sea monsters of Torn World, in print, but I fear that's too much to bite off as a whole, so I'm thinking I'll start working on this with the aim of releasing it NEXT sea monster month. Muse Fusion is next week!

Wheeee...

I've been making good headway on my list of dooooom. I've done a sketch and written about 2k for Muse Fusion so far! Leave me prompts - I'm promising to do something for everyone who prompts. https://www.tornworld.net/musefusion.php

My book has been doing AHMAZING. I'm so humbled and happy and relived. It hit 155 in Amazon rank, and then hung out around 250 for a few days and it's only now just slumping into the 300s. My last book got to 248 and dropped off pretty quickly, and the book before that barely skimmed into the top 500.

It is the last day to get the first three books in the series on sale for .99 (for ALL THREE): myBook.to/shiftingsandsbox1

And in more sales reminders, this is the last week to get March perks at Patreon, and I'm mailing ORIGINAL ART for the $5+ rewards, so get in on that. (It's not a drawing or a gamble. Everyone in this tier will receive at least two pieces of original artwork.) https://www.patreon.com/ellenmillion

I am so SO grateful for all of your support, you guys. I can't really overstate how much it means to me. <3 <3

Book! Book! BOOK!

I'm flailing happily, in no small part because I no longer have to be secretive about my participation in this group pseudonym.

I am Zoe Chant!

One of several, mind you; I did not write everything under that name, just the Shifting Sands Resort series, and Dancing Bearfoot.

These are my spicy not-a-books I've been referring to; they are short, silly, fluff romance books, with a side of magic and a slice of adventure. No jerks, no doormats, always a happy ending and never a cliffhanger, though there is an over-arcing story that will conclude in four more books. (er, five. Book six comes out next month! But four more to write.)

(And I am so looking forward to sharing it! Wheeeeeee!)

Latest book: http://myBook.to/tropicaldragondiver

(If you would prefer not to see these updates and continue pretending I am a sweet, innocent, child-safe artist only, please just drop me a note and I can exclude you from posts on this topic so you can continue to follow me safely. I will NEVER post anything graphic or NSFW, but I totally get it if you'd just not like to know about this part of my body of work, as it is a bit of a departure from my usual.)
