I can't believe my last post also had the subject 'Tuesday'. Or that no one pointed out to me that I posted it on Wednesday.

It's been up and down, mostly busy, low on sleep. I think Elsa is trying to grow a friend for her tooth, and she was SO miserable on Sunday that it broke her poor Mom's heart. I slept through gaming, because by the time I got HER to sleep for a nap, I was just a disaster. Things were better after that.

Saturday was our 11 year wedding anniversary. We left Elsa with her grandsitters and went out to dinner at the Lemongrass (OUTSTANDING food), walked along the river by Alaskaland Pioneer Park for a bit, and then had room for dessert at Wolf Run (amazing desserts, still - though the building is starting to look a bit run down...). We thought about catching a movie, but none of them fell at the right time. Ah, well.

We came back to find Elsa still had most of a bottle of milk left, but she would have NONE of it. Not with mom-boob RIGHT there. She actually got quite incensed about it.

I have NO IDEA where yesterday went. If you see it, please let it know I'm looking for it.

Much to do today, and Elsa is giving me hungry looks, so have some photos, and I'm off to do stuff. (Bread is made. Laundry needs started. Might have spoons enough for bellydance drills tonight, we shall see!)

It's the short little naps that are the worst. You lay down, close your eyes... blissful rest! The tinny music from the mobile that will mean sleep to you for the rest of your life playing gently in the background. Stillness from the cradle. Finally! Sleep! Time to catch up on the rest you don't get at night! Your muscles relax, the symphony for your dreams begins to tune up, your breathing evens out...

THUMP THUMP CREAK.

That's the sound of tiny baby feet drumming on the cradle mattress.

You screw your eyes shut harder, concentrate on the dreams that are just out of reach. She'll go back to sleep.

THUMP THUMP. AblaaaaahblaaaahBLAAAAAaaaaaahhhh.....

"Shhhhhhh, shhhhhh," you say. You've had luck with that a few times. There's still a chance she'll relax and snooze some more.

ABLABLABlahblah! THUMP THUMP THUMP.

Your dreams have fled in fear, all your muscles are tense, and you might as well open your eyes - the next sound will either be an escalation to outright crying, the sound of the baby throwing up out of the cradle onto the rug, or the sound of a diaper being noisily filled. Take your pick!

The nap count today:

1) 1.5 minutes
2) 20 minutes
3) 5 minutes

At some point you give up on trying to lay down when she does; this will invariably be the time she sleeps for 3 hours.
