Working feverishly on the plate for the Fairy Court calendar, which has to be finished by Wednesday. Eek!

I totally skipped the reflections of the bird and the breath, even after Pers1stence pointed them out, 'cause... I'm lazy and rushed, yes. I admit it.

I'm thinking of putting her in red, and making the bird red, to contrast with the cool blue... but I'm afraid it may be TOO contrasty. Maybe purple.

if red, it would need to be a deeper, muted red -- at least in my amateur opinion..and I'm not sure whether it might not be too contrived looking to make the bird match the dress....

I do like the overall composition, though...

I'd agree with pers1stence, that a deep, muted red would look lovely with that blue.

You can always do a quick scribble on the computer to see what color would look best. It's what I do when I'm in a bind about what color choices would look the best!

I can't help it. I understand the idea behind "Morning Breath" as a title, but every time I see it I just think, "EW STINKY". You, um, might want to reconsider and call it "winter breath" or something... :)

I think a purple/red dress would be lovely. It would add richness and punch to the painting. Either a muted red or a burgandy purple...or both! *grin* She's beautiful, though, Ellen...I love this painting!

LOL -- You can tell there's wings behind me? Cool! I wasn't sure *grin* I took that photo last just to get a photo reference for holding a staff and really liked how it turned out, so decided to photo-manip it...never done that before. *lol* I'll post the whole pic when I get home from work. ;)
