I am an absolute addict to this scratchboard. Thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] watergazer!

The character is the wonderful Brandie Minchew's, and there is actually *more* teensy detail in real life. It was so much fun to do!

I've got everyone's envelopes addressed who asked for teeny watercolor blocks in my last post - the pads are drying now. This is SO much fun, and they are so awesomely tiny. The free ones only have 8 sheets in them, but I'm thinking pads of 10 would be appropriate. Would $5 or 5 for $20 be reasonable? There's a bit of assembly with them, and they come out looking like a truely professional product. Would canvas pads like this be desirable, too? Or bristol? Those probably don't have the same curling problems that watercolor paper runs into, but it sure keeps them neatly together. Maybe padded on just one side? The WC blocks, I padded the two long sides and wrapped around the corners - there's about 1 1/2 to slide a pallet knife into for separation on both short sides. I may have to experiment more.

Just put in an order to clearbags.com - they have pre-cut mattboard on clearance sale at very reasonable prices right now! Limited colors, but what they have sounds nice.

Wow, that is sweet! I've only tried scratchboard once, I liked it but I was afraid of messing up, and I only have one piece. I guess if you do mess up you can just use black ink to fix it.

The package headed out the door a little while ago, I'm using up some of those whacko stamps Sandy had laying around. :)

Figure out how much time it takes to assemble, and the cost of paper and everything. Arches blocks cost soooo much so $5 for 10 sheets sounds nice, and the 5 for $20 sounds good. Reminds me of the Victoria's Secret panty sales, but I'd rather pay $4 for each block of paper than thongs. <:) I like to use watercolor on Bristol, do you think that putting it in a block would stop the curling?

LJ chopped the rest of my comment: Bristol pads: I use watercolor on that paper, if it would make then stop curling and lay flat again that would be perfect! Would you have to stretch the paper first though?
