Hail!

Not satisfied with snowing, mother nature hath decided to send freezing rain, alternating with hail.

I'm finally happy with the Orphan Works article. It's very thorough, and a little bit long, but in fairly straight-forward language. Many thanks to Mary for the comments and typo-catch! It's bundled up to my editor now and will be published on Thursday.

The Trains Must Run on Time is finished and scanned in parts as well, and I've started the next TMaS piece. I also tried to do an Egyptian-themed piece, but it fell all apart and I think I may crumple it up and deposit it in the circular file. Reminder - Thursday is the last day to get Egyptian work in! http://emg-zine.com/submitart.php

Busy day ahead, but no day job! YAY!

I'm looking forward to the article, and your thoughts on the new House bill.

I gave it a quick read-through, and it didn't seem too bad. Still mulling it over though. And I'm curious what the Senate version says.

I tried to keep most personal opinions out of it (though one snarky Bill Gates quip did sneak in), but in general: a lot of kerfuffle over basically nothing. My opinion is: the bill is harmless to artists and helpful for educational institutes. But read the article on Thursday and decide for yourself. :)

There's a copy of the senate bill here: http://www.orphanworks.net/S2913OWActof2008.pdf

Ah, thanks. I hadn't found anything on that one yet.

For what it's worth, I've thought the whole thing was "a lot of kerfuffle over basically nothing" since it was originally proposed. Nothing I've seen so far has convinced me otherwise. Still keeping my eye on it though.

Oh, and before I forget... thanks.

It's a good thing you're doing, getting accurate information out there. There's sure plenty of inaccurate stuff floating around, so every honest effort to "shed some light" is invaluable.

I'm glad you put together that article. I think it'll help out a lot of nervous nancies who are busy listening to the freakouts of people with vested interests. ;)

I wonder, would the Sphinx lineart I submitted for your goth colouring book be appropriate for your Egyptian theme?

Yes, yes and yes! Please submit it. :) :)

I'm happy to! I saw entirely too much misinformation being pushed off as 'Fact' and 'Truth' and then repeated by trusting souls - it really rubs me wrong.

Will do! I'll toddle on over to the guidelines here in a bit and get it all submitted and stuff.
