Jennie and Liz and I went to the Hot Springs for Halloween.

We soaked in the pools 3 times on Saturday night, steaming in the chilly wind beneath the full moon until they closed the pool at midnight and chased us out. We rented a room (3 ways, it's not too bad), and got up in the morning for one long last soak at 3 below before driving home.

Between my efforts on Friday and several hours of natural hot springs, my back is no longer hurting, nor is my head.

I feel detoxified. Relaxed. Energized. Able to deal again.

Now, where were all those balls I was juggling...?

Wow, hot springs sound just incredible. Is this a America-wide thing? I'm coming stateside next year, sounds like something I'd be into!

It's definitely a pretty rare and wonderful thing - only available where there are actually natural hot springs. That means mostly earthquake/volcano zones. We've got two that are semi-local. Chena Hot Springs is about an hour drive away, and the most developed. Circle Hot Springs is a 6 hour drive, and used to be a big resort in the 40s, but it's been neglected and closed about 5 years ago. There is also Manley Hot Springs, but it's not road accessible, and I've never been. Liard Hot Springs is across the border in Canada south of Whitehorse, and probably my favorite springs ever - it spans two pools - one of them small and REALLY hot, the other QUITE hot and very big, very developed, with lots of benches and changing rooms and stairs down and such - it's one of their national parks. I am afraid I don't know thing one about any of the lower forty-eight hot springs. I imagine they have them, but I don't know where or how nice they are.
