  • Went to an open life drawing session yesterday and had a blast. I'll put most of what I did behind a cut, but the above piece is by far and away my favorite.

  • I had to jump out a little early for dance class immediately afterward and Joyce said my floreos looked great.

Me to Jake this morning: Joyce said I did great in class last night!

Jake: Did you get a gold star?

Me (proudly): Yes! I got a gold star on floreos!

Jake: You got a gold star for burritos??

  • Mailed several packages of art yesterday, but still owe several more today, plus a big box of goodies for Deborah (I haven't forgotten!).

  • The Fantasy Art Shop is coming along swimmingly. This week? THIS WEEK?!

  • Am I the only person who constantly wants to add an 's' at the end of afterward?? Afterwards just... seems right, even with spell-check telling me it's not.

  • I may need more coffee for this day...

  • ETA: Oh! And I have a new short story up: http://www.tornworld.net/storypageview.php?id=165 ('Dying to Do', very short, moody thing)

(There was one more page with 2 5 minute poses that I was particularly unhappy with, but this was enough to show!) Also, if you haven't read it yet, check out Annie's article on the subject: http://emg-zine.com/item.php?id=649

Afterward/afterwards is more of a regional/dialect thing rather than a right/wrong thing. Since dictionaries are supposed to reflect usage, not prescribe it... afterwards away! :D

Beautiful sketches, Ellen, and hooray for gold stars! :-)

You must have a very British spellchecker, at least, according to my dictionary,'afterward' is (mostly) British and 'afterwards' is most used in the USA ('afterwards' is my favorite, though).

Ellen, when was the 'fantasy Ahosi' sent? I hope it wasn't and the envelope ended beneath something in your studio, since...it hasn't arrived yet. I would really, really hate for such a beautiful sketch to be lost in the mail somewhere. :-(

It's still on my desk! I was actually flipping through my sketchbook before the Sketch Fest and opened right to it and said %$^*#@*?!!! (Because I was SO sure I'd already mailed it...) It is now packaged, and ready to go out in the next batch I mail.

Afterwards, I was glad I asked, because I'd be able to use the word I wanted. :P

    Yay!

You should do life drawing classes more often. I think there's a vitality to these sketches that would reflect beautifully in your regular work!

    Relief!!! :-)))

We have had very bad experiences with summer-replacement postmen in the past (one some years ago, abandoned a month worth of mail in a field, it was discovered in the fall) and I was very worried that she might have been lost.

It meets weekly, and I plan to make it a regular practice - I felt so *rusty* starting, but enjoyed it enormously! I think it will help me a lot. :)

The online dictionaries I checked listed "afterward" as American English, "afterwards" as an alternative for AE, and chiefly British English as well.

Since you mentioned mail: The Pear Bear went into the mail yesterday. :)

I wish something like that was available in my town, and I could afford it.
