It's a chilly day - not too cold, but quite windy, and looking to get colder tonight. *sighs* Unfortunately, it's also cloudy, because it should otherwise be a spectacular night for northern lights! The woodstove is crackling away.

Factory Update

My hands are a little puffy today. I am drinking lots of water to see if I can get that to go down. I stopped wearing my wedding ring weeks ago, because I didn't want to get stuck in it, so no harm done.

The inmate is doing chin-ups on my organs in anticipation of her escape.

That's a crazy full inbox! Wow!

And they have classes to teach breastfeeding? I never knew that.

I had a flash image in my head of Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2, doing her chinups in the institution. :)

That is so exactly the image I was working from, too. :P

That inbox is way worse than it usually is. Some of it just needs filed, but lots of it needs answered.

And yes, apparently this community is pretty gung-ho on breastfeeding, and there are a couple of class options to help new moms out. I have no idea what they'll be teaching, but I figure the more I know, the better prepared I'll be. And it's free! They've also got consultants at the hospital to get you started before you go home, too.

I'd known about the consultants at the hospitals, but had never heard of the classes before...

The last class for my birthing class was the "you have your baby...now what?" which covered things like proper holding, breastfeeding basics: for holding the baby and your breast, tips and tricks, what the SO can do while you are feeding to help you; how to change the baby, how to bath the baby etc. I was really, really happy that they taught us a lot of that. The nurses and consultants were great at the hospital but having a glimpse at what you are supposed to do (or be able to do) was really helpful.

BTW, if you can have the baby latch on as soon after birth as possible. It really 1) gets your milk going, 2)lets you bond well and 3) is just awesome!

I wish they'd covered that going home material in our birthing class! They got to delivery and mentioned that first hour or so of bonding, and that was the end.

I'm going to see if they have a class that does cover that home-with-newborn stuff - the breast feeding class was actually remarkably useful, so we're 2/2 on classes actually worth going to now!

Yeah... I'm not sure they can actually TEACH breastfeeding ... LOL...

I'm sure it's more of an advice/benefits type thing...

Inmate has to wait a few more weeks to be done cooking thoroughly... THEN she may make her break!

    :)

I'm not sure what they'll actually be teaching, but the last class I took was so useful that I'm willing to give it a shot. It's free, not much to lose!

Inmate is expressing her displeasure with the cramped quarters.

Tell her that if she doesn't behave she'll have to go sit in the Time Out corner! Wait, do you *have* one of those in there? ;D
