  • In less list-like news, Guppy may be settling into an actual sleep pattern. *knocks on every piece of wood in reach.* She seems to be going down between 9 and 10, and sleeping between 9 and 10 hours. I could not be more happy. I unintentionally tried the cry-it-out method, which I tried to try previously and could not handle. (My baby, she is CRYING, I must go help her!) But I needed to go to the bathroom really badly, so I left her in her cradle, and since I was up anyway, I had a super quick snack, brushed my teeth and took my pills, refilled my water bottle and braced myself for a long night... and as I was climbing back up the stairs, she went quiet, and stayed quiet except for two brief squeaks in the night that didn't last long enough for me to get out of bed. And this is now a week or more of sleeping 8-10 hours in a row with few or no interruptions. Just now I put her down for a nap, and although she was grumpy-FUSSY-tired, she was not at all asleep when I left the room... and there were a few kicks and then quiet. No crying at all.

I could SERIOUSLY get used to this.

Jake came home with new furniture yesterday - a big rolling shelf for the basement to replace a too-small, rickety shelf, and a small drawered sidetable for beside my living room chair to absorb various baby toys and tools, as well as my computer, which had no home, and the phone books and plant. It took most of the afternoon to put together, but it looks gorgeous, and it was 60% off the last clearance price, which pleases my inner miser. It matches the one I have in the nursing nook upstairs, so I anticipate mix-and-matching them in the future in some fashion, either in the nursery, or the living room. Or somewhere else. Who knows!

Okay, this list isn't crossing itself off...

so glad you are getting sleep and Guppy-girl is getting long sleep. Its a magical transition. All of a sudden the world has the right colors, your energy goes up and you can finally concentrate on things like you used it. Its a great time to be a mom.
