I was back to Head Editor for a few months because Jennifer had a baby! This theme was 'Familiars' and our cover was by Constanza Ehrenhaus. This was also a month of hacker drama... the whole sordid tale was here. That was wretched!

The theme of August was 'Roses,' and the cover was by Katerina Koukiotis. This month, I released the NEW Fantasy Art Shop, which was intended to be a collector site for selected fantasy art pieces, with links to verified licensors and venders (Zazzle, personal sites, etc.). It... stumbled. Mostly because no one used it. I shut it down after just a couple of months. It was a lot of work to build - and more to maintain, and if people weren't going to use it, I wasn't going to continue to dump energy into it.

This month saw the redesign of the entire site - gone was the (optionally) bouncy menu with pull-downs... we didn't have enough work to really warrant that layout. Gone was the need for designing multiple headers every month, and having to come up with a new background and color scheme for each issue. The cover showed on all the pages now as the monthly design, and it became an order of magnitude easier to get each issue up. Plus, it looked WAY better and was far easier to browse. The theme for September was 'Ravens', with a cover by Kate McCredie.

Jennifer took the reins back in December for the theme of 'African Mythology', and our cover was by Jessica Douglas. This was also the month I finished the Chopping Block review of all my projects, EMG-Zine included. The summary? Too much of a charity project to continue as-is... I agreed then to see it through 2011, but for another year to happen, something was going to have to change financially.
