Trudging along!

No feedback on Archivistrix yet, which is always nail-biting, but I will push forward. Still need to select work for *Asterix and finish the last Fantastrix piece. (Naptime plan! Too risky to do while Guppy is awake.) I got some major programming for client #2 done yesterday and this morning, but no progress for Portrait Adoption. I have broken my plan into two principal sections: customer-end upgrades, and improved categories (which will be AMAZING). The latter is complicated and daunting - it may be deferred to much later. The former is starting to take shape and is pretty critical for security as well as being awesomely useful for buying things with credit, etc. As a bonus, in reacquainting myself with the code, I did a major visual update on the portrait pages themselves. That's already been rolled out with no fanfare at this time.

Today's photo reminds me that phoneshots are all well and good, but a great camera still matters, and I should get it out more:

Mother nature, in a turn for the sulky, has decided that rain is somehow appropriate. I disagree.

Archivistrix is nifty! I wasn't expect the "commentary track" -- it's nice to hear the stories behind the pieces. I haven't tried printing any of it yet, though, but the print preview is showing me little word bubble icons on the images where the commentary is anchored. Presumably that can be turned off (or maybe just won't appear on the actual printout?) but I haven't figure out how yet.

Let me know if they prove stubborn to turn off; I can move them to the corner or just not bother with them altogether if they turn out to be a hassle.

:)

My two initial attempts at printing -- page 15 from the file as is, and then with the opacity of the comment box turned down to transparent from opaque -- both printed with a little dialog box with three straight lines in it at the inside edge of the ship. I'm not sure what to try to tweak to make it not appear on the printed image.

I was going to ask about the little word bubbles too. (How do you see the actual words? They're just yellow bubbles showing up on my screen, I was worrying they would print like that.)

In evince (the pdf viewer I'm using on linux, so this may be totally unhelpful to you), if you click on the little word bubble, it brings up a small pop-up window with the text in it. (And once I've opened one, the rest seem to open automatically, though I can send them away again.)

Looks like I somehow didn't let the PDF load fully last time, as mouseover is now showing me everything I wanted to see!

Oh, phew! And you were able to turn them off or make them not print? The commentary is a bit of an experiment - I meant to ask specifically for feedback on it in my update at Kickstarter, but writing updates in five parts between toddler interruptions means I forget half of what I was going to say...
