One of the things I hate: people who ask for free sample. 'Cause, see, I feel like I oughta give them. Particularly when they are inquiring for a possible large order. But I can't count on all my fingers and toes the 'I'm going to have a great big order worth lots of money and I'm going to order from You, and you should send me free stuff' requests I've had, and some of the time I've sent stuff, and I think that only one of them has actually come through. No, a few of them have come through, but their ideas of 'enormous order' is not the same as mine...

Enough griping. Lots to do today...

I think that you should respond by saying that, although perhaps slightly more politickly. "While I would love to be able to send free samples, even for pre-approval on a large order, I've found that it's simply not cost effective to do this. I apologize for any inconvenience, and hope that you choose to order through EMG anyway. Sincerely, Ellen."

Only you should make sure inconvenience is spelled right, 'cause I have a hard time with that word. :)
