I ought to feel horribly, horribly guilty for not working a drop on EMG even when I have lots of things to take care of. But hey, my gaming buddies depend on me too, and I got to ink.

What's with the unicorn and key theme? I *like* it, but I wanna know what it's about! :)

I started doodling this for the Epilogue Tree of Renewal contest, but it just sort of... morphed... into a design for a project I'm working on. I want to put out a book filled with linework, each picture connected to the next like that tritych I did, telling a story without words that follows the travels of that key. What it's for, and what it means... well, that's up to the reader. It starts with a unicorn hatching with a key around its neck, and it travels with a unicorn and a girl and a gryphon and I have no idea what else. I figure I've got to work mermaids into it, and a snow-yeti of some kind. This, I think, could be a cover. Or a finale page. Or something.

I really like how you incorporate all these different elements in a... sort of abstract way, to make a whole. It's really neat and very interesting, like how her hair twines around and becomes the tree.
The only thing I notice that isn't perfect is that her nose is noticably off center. However, as I know many actual people with noses that are noticably off center, I don't consider this to be a big deal.

I noticed that after I inked! I did a test drag in Photoshop, moved it over just a few millimeters and it looked much better, but I figured I'd post it as it actually is and clean up only the final-final version. :)

I love the way her hair and the tree mingle. Beautiful linework.
