With a deadline just ten days away and an evening free, did I sit down and work on the Morrigan piece I want to do? Oh, of course not.
I watched Barbarian*, had a margarita to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, stuffed myself silly on tacos, and then broke out my oil paints to see if I still remembered how to use them. I worked on a piece I had abandoned several years ago because my skill level just wasn't up to the vision I wanted to capture... and I'm really, super, extra happy with how it's coming. It still needs several hours more of work, but I'm pleased with the control I can get. I'll photograph it tomorrow, if I remember, but it will be only shown on the art WIP filter, as I suspect I'll turn it into a PA piece. It's not going to be fabulous enough to make a good print, but it's a fine character portrait.
And then I used the leftover paint on my palette to do a big 16 x 20 abstract piece that I don't hate, either, even if it is quite orange. I don't really know what to do with these pieces - they don't fit at all with my other work; I doubt I'll ever sell them. I don't even know if they're worth scanning to show off. It'll take a few days to dry (alkyds, yay!), but maybe I'll take a photo of it.
*See the subject line. Worst movie I've ever seen. Hysterically bad.
