ellenmillion: (ellen with wrench)
One quick story before it fades from my memory, a photo, and a list before I tackle my day:

Monday night we were watering the baby 'lawn' and heard an interesting squawk as we turned off the pump. A bird was circling overhead, and my first dismissive thought was 'seagull (yes, we get them 400 miles inland!),' but it turned in the light and showed off predator wings and tail shape. It was joined by another, and we tried to guess what it was. A kite, maybe? It seemed small... and then there was a monstrous third one from over the trees, and we realized that the first two weren't really that small at all, just high up. A fourth one joined them, and there was this wheeling, crying dance above us for long enough that my neck started to hurt from craning to watch them. We're quite sure they were northern goshawks - the sound gidget at that site will show you why we thought seagull at first! It was a very cool show.

Here is a baby growing up way too fast with my bear for reference:

17 months!

Today I must:

*make bread
**for sloppy joes
*Write for TW
*blog
*Mail order(s) (and pick up mail)
*return library book
*call about floor underlayment
*Art
*lots of giggling and delicious food and happy baby
*something else I can't think of right now...
