Help?

I need an opinion on the second piece I submit to the Epilogue contest (nothing like waiting until the Very Last Minute, eh?).

Bad Snowy?

Freedom?

or stick to my strength (dots)?

Between?

Key of Renewal?

Or something else I haven't considered?

I hate my indecisiveness...

I suppose it's worth noting that my first choice submission is stippling... the winged, nekked woman I previewed here about a month ago. I don't know whether to stay to my strong point or go for color. Black and white isn't as popular as color, but I do it much better.

If they're looking for PUR3 M4D SKI11Z, I would put Key of Renewal in, as it has more contrast and dot-control than the "Between" piece (though I think it's pro, too!). I think this is the most professional-looking piece.

If they're looking for Skills + Charm, I'd go with BAD SNOWIE because the concept is cute and the execution is decent (if perhaps a tad busy--fur+trees, etc.).

I don't think Freedom is that strong of a piece, due to the coloring...Idunno. It just has a look like it didn't scan as well as it looks in real life.

All are IMHO, always.

I have that trouble with prismas... in real life, they are crisp and gorgeous (she says modestly), but the scans just don't quite *get* them.

But since it's an on-line thing, *crosses it out.*

Anywho, thank for the input... this is exactly what I was in need of. :)

I think you should stick to your Dots!!!!

YOur other pieces are very good, but I think that your "dot" work is very unique!!!!!

Well..hm. I think 'Snowy' is beautiful, and if I were in your position, I'd submit a stippling one and then a painting. In which I'd pick 'Snowy'. If you want to go with your strengths all the way, I'd pick 'Key of Renewal'.

Thanks for the input! That's how I was leaning (one painting, one stippled), but at the bells toll I decided to stick with my strengths. I really appreciate the help!

Yup, Key of Renewal is the total package.

Man, it didn't even place in the contest, so I had nearly dismissed it as an option. Thanks for the input; I did end up subbing that one.

Just how much more popular IS colour over B&W? Does that make a big difference?

If by 'colour is more popular' you mean it's more likely to win (ie: has a bias towards it), I'd go with your 'Bad Snowy' pic as well. I love the atmosphere; it's a charming piece.

If, however, you mean that there'll be far more colour entries, B&W would tend to stick out more (so I would think), and I'd choose 'Key of Renewal.' To me, at least, it has a powerful feeling to it.. part of which is no doubt the fact that it's so obvious that it took a tremendous amount of work/time, or so I'd assume.

If it's a pretty even balance either way between colour vs. B&W, I'd choose your 'Key of Renewal' piece as well. It's bound to stick out in memory because I doubt there'll be many like submissions.

HOnestly, I wish I knew. If there was a black and white quota they wanted to meet, I'd have stuck with that in a second, but I fear it will be just a crap shoot... whatever the judges happen to like/see as real art.

Thanks much for the thoughtful input! Really helped me out. :)
