Buried myself nose-deep in paypal's documentation about the pro merchant account, downloaded a new possible (but highly unlikely) php shopping cart (mostly to see what kind of output code it generates, because that's what I'll need to mimic to talk with paypal), and am playing with some .html files that I think I can re-organize to speak with a database instead of unweildy arrays. Interesting stuff, I tell you... but it makes my brain throb. Was very thrilled to find that I'll be able to take CC payments in person from now on. :)

Uncovering Atlantis got rejected from Epilogue... lack of contrast! Meh! There may be some truth there - and the web version does look washed out compared to the original. I wish the rejections were a little more in-depth and helpful - I can't wait for artgauntlet...

Working on some PA stuff - gotta get some of these submitted descriptions up and out! No new ones being accepted yet...

Then, into town for orders and sales and stuff...

You want that I will take them serious?

((((HUG)))

Every time someone posts about Epilogue turning a piece down, it always always comes across as personal preference issues.

It comes across as they're scraping the barrel for excuses because they personally don't like the picture.

I'm glad that I didn't get a gallery there - I'd spend all my time ranting about it. Mind you, I don't like the site layout much either.

Lack of contrast is often a problem with traditional art. I've gotten it a few times myself.

Oh forgot...I have a piece pending right now and I'm a wreck. It's been over a year since I last submitted anything, because of the pressure-not-to-create-crap. I can take the rejection, though, it's more the waiting and the why exactly that get to me. :)

I've pretty much given up on Epilogue. They've rejected me soooooooooo many times, as well as one of my fellow professors that I've decided they must all be dolts.

I'm tired of Epilogue and their rejection issues... I have stopped uploading there, 'cause none of my art gets accepted anymore. I think the trouble is, different mods have different opinions, so what may be one rejection now, maybe be another rejection next time, because a different person looks at it.... well at least that's my guess!

They even reject professional artists work if they think it's not to their standards, so it's all a bit anal!

I mean you could redo it to fix the contrast(for real or in photoshop) if you think it'll help. It's a beautiful piece and I bet in real life it's fabulous. Unfortunately scans or photos of realworld media are never like the real thing and oft give a faded or washed out look!

The fact is realworld media looks best in the real world, digital looks best in the digital arena.. it's harder to make either look fab in the others world.

Epilogue is not the end all anyway.. there are other places/galleries out there that will be more fitting... :)

*hugs* :D

You're so right. About the real world vs. digital art thing. Colored pencils and markers and paint scan so poorly sometimes. It's worse than looking at a pic in the mirror, because it doesn't give you an objective new look at your work, it just makes it flatter and somehow less fulfilling unless you're like a god at it and able to take six months perfecting the look specifically to be scanned. Which kinda' takes the fun out of making stuff at times. Sometimes one just wants it to be happy creation and not worry about where it's gunna go online.
