Carry the Moon - on scratchboard! [livejournal.com profile] watergazer sent me scratchboard ages and ages ago to try out (because they don't carry it here, that I can find...), and I've been so chicken to waste it. But then! I realized I could punch ACEO cards out of it! Wahoo! Tiny experimental art! I'll add scratchboard to my ACEO blanks page as soon as I get to it. :)

That's gorgeous Ellen, I love the texture of the moon, and the way you've done the wings. The contrast between her wing and the surface of the moon works really well.

Awesome. And I'll definitely have to get my hands on some scratchboard and have a go at it myself :)

Do! It's fun! Watch how you hold it, though - you can see I rubbed off the black surface in a few spots where I was holding it down. >.

I don't think you have to worry about doing badly at scratchboard - this is really pretty.

Scratchboard is a lot of fun! I haven't done it in ages. You do have to be careful not to touch the surface, though... it will pick up fingerprints, even. I think I put it on slide-proof paper or something, so the board wouldn't move around while I was working on it, and I could pick up that instead of the board itself, so I wasn't touching the surface.

Nice scratchboard piece! It really has an ethereal quality to it. Is she standing on a treetop?

At some point, I'd love to see an article on keeping your pets out of your artwork. I haven't done any natural media artwork since I got my kitten. It's hard enough keeping him off the tablet.

That scratchboard piece is just... awe. If you get scratchboard on your inventory, I'll probably get some. :3 (Well, I'll deffinately get some, just "probably as soon as it's avaliable".)

when I was little at school, they usedta make us make our own scratchboards. we coloured random patterns in wax all over the board, then coloured over in black wax. Hey presto multicoloured scratchboard, though not such a professional finish. Kept us quiet a couple of hours, when you have to babysit and the weather is bad?
