For Ursula's art challenge. It turned out too organic, but pfff... I'll try something harder edged later.

It is *difficult* to get colored pencil color that rich. I put hours into laying color down on the page and grumbled about how easy it would be to do with a tablet... I wanted to do something with a really strong light source. I composed this shortly after watching a PBS documentary on Ansel Adams.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE this colored paper stuff?!?!? This piece is my favorite so far. *big grin* It's tiny and copyrighted because it is part of a Big Secret Project, and I have to. *tease*

Ooooooh! I'm thinking "mousepad" when I look at the second one.

Sweeeet... that landscape rocks*bad pun I know), but it's really good. Actually it reminds me of those velvet paintings. That twisted tree is trippy! :)

The girl is gorgeous, whoah so realistic! I love the effect with coloured papers.. might like to try that sometime.

They're all amazing. Mwah.

By the way, did you know that when you start off on a colored background, you use the same approach the Baroque painters use? They "discovered" their artwork by applying light and shadow on a colored background. Not to mention, it's hella fun. ^_^

Seems like you're having a lot of fun with the white and black charcoal on colored paper! Can't blame you.

The colored pencil piece really came out nice. The lighting is so exotic it looks like an alien landscape. Very effective.
