Rain!

It's pouring down rain - nasty, drizzly stuf with intermintent downpours, keeping most folks home from the fair. Ugh.

Back is killing me, but toughing it out - can't collapse until everything is packed - tomorrow?

PA site is up and working, and (mostly) de-bugged. Still some oddball login problems (status) but they don't seem to be affecting actual performance. (Incorrectly showing 'nonmembers' are still going online...) There are new portraits up! They are in the registered customers only area! Are you registered? It'll tell you what's new since you last logged in and all kinds of nifty stuff.

I can't seem to edit/close any of the old site announcements. (adds to list of things to tackle)

I'm only taking a pause on my shower break - want a nice warm shower before I go back and sit in the cold some more. May even (GASP) blow dry my hair. My feet are soaked - I was all smart and stuff and wore sandals today, and there's a small lake in front of my tent nearly blocking the entrance. I have rigged a nice plywood bridge that will suffice for the day, but my toes still got wet.

Got a few 'extra' hours of sleep last night - still not up to 8, but more than I've been getting, and it felt SO nice. Had to scramble to get to the fair by noon, but it was so rainy and miserable, it wasn't like it would have mattered that I was a little late.

Been kept on my toes by spammers at the forums lately - having to delete up to seven of them everyday does not make me a happy camper. 'Specially not this week. Oh well - they're pathetically easy to spot. Mr. SexyRussionGirl and viagra48932, you only think you're sneaky.

I have new stories up at kaz, for those of you who are members! (And they're public, for those of you who aren't, but you probably won't get them without hours of backstory...) :) Read! Comment! It makes my day! But don't read them top to bottom, because they're rife with spoilers for each other... Consequences of Kiss comes first, then Positive, then Present Tense, and then Past Tense. (Future Tense is coming...) I was actually surprised to see those last two up - I'd asked they not be posted yet, but it was so long ago, oh well. I was going to write another in-between, not sure if I will now. Sort of getting 'eh' about lots of stuff.

Alright, I'm just wasting time now because I'm dreading returning to the cold rainy outside and I'm all tired and worn down - it's shower and back to work. Home stretch. Almost there.

Ellen -- I'm sorry, some of that's my fault. Story-posting order, anyway. And I didn't know about holding off on those two stories, otherwise I wouldn't have put them up. But I was posting them in timeline-order, not quite thinking it through to realizing that the page would display them essentially backwards. Sorry! :(

No worries!! That's just a consequence of 'most recent on top' - happens with emails, too. (Which is why I get almost all of my lists on digest!) And it wasn't a big deal on the two unexpected posts, either - nothing is really a surprise at this point, I don't think, and I think I'd only mentioned holding off on them to Whit in chat, nothing official, and as much to string out what little writing I can get done as anything! I may or may not still write that in-between story... it was sort of sputtering and I couldn't get it to hang together right anyway. I may bounce it off of you one of these days - it poked at Resla's friendship with Lybelle a bit.

Is the reg-customer only updates the way things are planned to go, or is the site still in some sort of beta?

I'm currently sitting on my stuff until I'm told the site/submissions/themes/etc. is in some sort of final state since I don't want to re-do things unnecessarily. Will there be a grand opening or is it all just slowly coming together? :)

Registered customers will get a 'sneak peek' for a few days, before the portraits become fully public. Another perk of registering! That's a permanent thing. (Unless I get too many complaints - I always weigh complaints very seriously.)

It's just coming together bits and parts - it's public and functional - everything is fairly well as it will be now that the submissions bug is fixed, with some minor exceptions. I am going to start doing some advertising and plugging as some of the last public cosmetics come together (the announcement blurb controls, for example). You're welcome to submit now, or to hold off a few more days as a few features come online - up to you. You shouldn't have to redo anything, at this point. (Famous last words??)

No, that sounds rather nice, actually. The one downside I can see from an artist's point of view is that a random visitor might miss a pic they'd have liked, but if there are returning customers that's a good deal. Strategic planning :)

I'm still hoping for more categories so I'll know how to sort my pics, but I could upload some to try it out... Can you change the theme/style a picture belongs to after you've uploaded it if you would add anything suiting it better later? And will I gain the possibility to edit my artist's page/info once something has gone up on the site?

...oh yes, and something I've wondered about since I have quite a few things to put up: Do pics on your artist's page sort according to when you uploaded them? I don't want to put up the latest things I've done now to be pushed off by older stuff, in that case.

Pictures on your artist page sort by last *updated* - so if you change a price, or just click on 'save changes,' it should go to the top. Means you can change their order at any time, if you're clever!

Hey Ellen, so when are you going to be taking new artists on board (like me :D) I've been holding off on things until the site was up and running (didn't want to be hassling you!). I don't have any artwork just yet but I know I'll be coming up on a quiet period in a little bit so I might as well start thinking about it!

Sounds like the fair's a little damp o_O
