Poo! ArctiCon is going to be the day I get back from Mexico. I get off the plane at about 10 in the morning (pretty close to when it starts), having been in various airports since about noon the day before. Ugh. Not much I'll be able to do to help set up! Will be brain-toast for the entire day, no doubt.

Lessee - I figured out how to set up my shopping cart to send auto-confirmations. It was stupidly easy and I'm embarassed I hadn't done so before. It's all personalized and everything. V. spiff.

I have more EMG work up!

I have made contact with that freelance job thing, they are not unhappy, but not quite satisfied, but slammed, so I'm in holding pattern, which is okay by me. :)

I have finished and 'illustrated' (re-sized photos) the photoshoot article and posted it to EMG-Zine for editing. About to tackle a guest opinion piece to take the place of Wombat Droppings for March - I have a paragraph done. Big shoes to fill, it's scary. Then I have to do a review. Must chase down [livejournal.com profile] penmage and Doris and see where we stand with those reviews, too.

About to tackle the anthology some more - I got some more print files, and I DESPERATELY need to start asking for more, now that the art pages are pretty much finalized.

In holding patterns on the coloring books - should get the proof for the gothic book soooooon, I hope, and the other is delayed while the printer catches up.

Posted a new contest/submission-thingy at EMG - looking for card borders and backs for the Portrait Adoption character cards I want to offer.

Got the roughs done for another freelance thingy - this one will be miles more fun and shouldn't be as time-consuming. It's of course an ASAP thing, so I'll be slaving on that over the next few days.

Now, food. And maybe a StarGate, 'cause I've been productive and my brain needs a break.

I'll put in my reviews when I get home tonight. The last few days have been insane.

I have Blood & Chocolate, Music & Lyrics, and an Indonesian horror movie called Hantu Jeruk Purut.

Blood and Chocolate the movie? Because I just read Blood and Chocolate the book, and if Ellen and/or you think it would be fun, I can review it for this edition. Unless you think it would be Blood and Chocolate overkill, in which case, I can review something else.

I like the idea. I'll email my review to your LJ addy so you'll know my impressions of it.

Re: reviews: How long do you want them to be? How recent do you need the books to be? And if the theme is travel, do they have to be fantasy? (I read a great teen book about travel that I could write up for you.)

Also, can I reuse the reviews I've written on my journal (lengthened if you need them longer) or do you need new ones just for EMGzine?

I can get you a review by Thursday if you just tell me what you need.

About 500 words is great - my initial impression of the ones you'd posted was that they were a little brief, but not overly so. You posted 'em friends-only, so the ones you've already put in your journal are fine for EMG-Zine. Extended a little would be ideal, but I'm not going to be too fussy. :)

Recent-er is better, but older things are not deal-breakers.

Theme - fantasy and sci fi is most important, theme of the month is secondary. If it's a travel book that fantasy and sci-fi fans may still enjoy... you could twist my arm.

Right now, we're pretty slim on submissions, so these preferences aren't critical.

Email to: reviews@emg-zine.com

You rock, thank you!!!

When I write reviews in my journal, I'm generally trying to keep them brief - one paragraph of plot summary, one paragraph of my thoughts/reactions.

It shouldn't be a problem to flesh it out a little. I'm going to try and write up a Blood and Chocolate tommorow. Do you want more than one? If so, I can try and extend my Monster Blood Tattoo - it's got some travel in it, and it's a fabulous book.

I would love more than one! If you've got anything for the March theme of Arabian Nights, we can squeeze that in and give you an extension on the travel theme, no problem-o. :)

ArtiCon is still going? My word. I had it pegged as one of those ephemeral sorts of things that would die once the super-enthusiastic people moved Outside. My ArctiCon T-shirts are starting to wear out. :(

No, not still going - it's been revived! This will be its first year in... gosh... 10 years or something.

9, then, I bet. ;) I have a T-shirt from the 1998 ArtiCon!
