I totally fixed my number one gripe with some of these EMG-Zine anthology pages... it needed more cowbell. So, I gave it more cowbell. Still more to do. (It NEVER ends, I swear! Everytime I think the end is near, I find six more things I can't stand not doing...)

MUST finish by the end of the next week. Think I can do so by Monday, but Friday is my personal Do or Die. Company says 7-10 days after that, 2 weeks shipping... ooo, we're getting close!

Then it will be into making print services play nice with the lilypad, and I've got a July deadline to get the scripts for Torn World together, and an August deadline to have calendars printed. Plus Ursula's book, and two commissions, and another coloring book or three. Woot.

Tonight, dinner and bellydancing with Melody (should call Mia, too!) and tomorrow, SM3 and Mexican with the bellydancing ladies. Sunday, I work on the house.

Today, 4 orders still to do, emails are already done, new work is already up, need to do some more of these 'cowbells' for the anthology.

Hey again, just writing to ask for your help. My forum is under siege by porn bombers. I am banning several IP addresses but I don't know what else I can do...anyone that posts is registered.

Oh, guh! Yes, I can see that's a problem! Okay, the first thing I did was make it so that users can't enable their own accounts. YOU have to approve all accounts from now on. You'll probably be able to pretty easily identify the spam accounts - they generally have bad links in the signature or list 'sports' as their interest and location or something. It's a little more work, though - you'll need to go into the admin panel, click on users > management (way down near the bottom) and type in the new member name, and then either approve the account ('account is active' y/n) or delete it - that's the very last checkbox.

You'll also want to delete all the already-approve accounts, or they will be able to continue to post that spam. That might be time consuming - it looks like they've registered quite a lot of them!

The alternative here might be to make all of your forums usergroup posting only and then add the real members to that usergroup. Let me know if you need any assistance setting that up!

Admin-only approval on accounts and manually deleting all the bots is the best solution I've found to the problem so far. I'll definitely let you know if I find a better one!

Thanks. Just for some reason this weekend while I was away I literally have every topic full of at least 3-5 spams and the first thread had over 10. And I spent all day deleting them off, only to came back a half hour later to find it all happened again under a different user name, regardless of banning a few IP addresses. Looking at my memberlist I realize how time consuming this all will be but I'll work it out and eventually get rid of these guys. Thanks for the tip...I just wasn't sure what to do there and how to make people have to get approval from me before being active members.

I don't know why but I have been getting emails from members (spammers) who want to join my site but I delete those mails without clicking on the link to "activate" them for the forum, and yet they still show up as being new members on my forum.

The emails go automatically to both of us now that accounts have to be admin approved. (I've been deleting them, too!) The account is created automatically, and that's why they show up as a new member, but the new account is not 'activated' - that's something only you can do. They can't log into their account or use it to post until it's activated!

Awesome. I got three meails from folks I pretty much know are cool, Rusti, Whippetluv, and Kyrin...I think I activated them correctly now. I get what you mean too, so no worries. If you want, just delete all thos mails and I'll handle their activation or not, save you the trouble. Oh also, when I come out with my book release of the Anatomy of a Werewolf sketchbook thing I'm working on, would you like some of those wholesale I could make special just for your business? I am making them myself so I have control of price and everything. Sorry about the penguin book...I suppose none of those really sold for ya, huh?
