New laptop, yay, yay, yay, boo!

My new laptop is so PRETTY! It's wonderful and shiny and clever... and has Vista.

(One of these things is not like the others...)

So, back to Gateway it will go, the shiny tease. I am sold on getting one of these tablet notebooks and think I will like it very much. But... VISTA! What were they thinking? The saleman and I had a nice laugh about what a mistake Vista was, and he assured me this one had XP. ARGH!!!

ETA: They remembered me and our discussion and are shipping me a new machine ASAP.

If you find a NEW Laptop that is available with XP instead of the plague, I mean VISTA, please let me know! I would like an HP for our business, but I don't want any stinking Vista. I'm to the point I don't care who makes the darn thing as long as it doesn't have Vista.

I went with a refurbished Gateway, which gave me quite some pause, but the price was right and the OS was REALLY important to me.

They do them with Ubuntu as well so you can avoid the whole Windoze tax (sorry, registration fee) if you want. When I have a lot of spare pennies I shall get one and load it with "64 studio" operating system instead which has loads of brilliant graphics programs built in.

*I* don't "do" Dell or Gateway because of Bad Experiences. I know it's not popular and it is overpriced, but I like HP. :O)
