I was at Fred Meyers yesterday, and they had a CHRISTMAS DISPLAY up.

I walked around it twice, looking for a super clearance sign, or some indication that it was leftover from last year or some other forgivable reason, but no... it was a display for Christmas ornaments for 2008.

It's AUGUST.

A CHRISTMAS display.

I feel queasy.

o. O

I dont mind Christmas displays showing up around Halloween or so, if they are small. After Thanksgiving is absolutely perfect.....

But before LABOR DAY!?!?!?!?!

Soon well just have them permanently up >.>

I can understand it at Hobby Lobby, since crafters like to do bazaar stuffs for fairs and such, but a normal store? Ye gods and little fishes...

It's bad enough when Halloween goes up before Labor Day.

Ditto the Hobby Lobby comment... but the HobLob near me had ORNAMENTs on display in June, not just the craft supplies....

Agreed on the crafts stores - Michaels is horrible about it.

But yeah, I thought Fred's was better than that. :)

Hallmark puts theirs out in July every year and then more in October. Eventually, they won't bother taking them down, but have Christmas all year!

There is a Christmas shop in Shrewsbury that sells nothing but Christmas decorations but ordinary shops shouldn't.

I always think it is very disrespectful as well when towns put up their decorations before November 11th and the old soldiers have to do their poppy day marches under Xmas lights.

I'm in Alaska - Freddies is apparently a Northwestern thing?

I'm old fashioned. August is for Back to School. September you can get going with Halloween. October, you're allowed to think ahead to Thanksgiving. And November AND December are for Christmas. That's still two full freaking months for the holiday. August for Christmas? I protest.

i think it's a plot to back up christmas shopping all the way to the day after christmas so they don't have to sell all their stuff for half-price then. that is a wtfer though... wait! you have Fred Meyer's?!?

Yep. Some stores around here also are starting. I hope they will have room for all the Halloween stuff if the fundies allow us to have Halloween anymore.
