I had an AMAZING weekend. Really, it was fantastic.
I had people over on Friday to watch Ascension during Guppy's quiet time, and then
laylalawlor and I hit the First Friday scene, which is always super inspiring. On Saturday, I used some of that energy to work on a new coloring page (dragon and squirrel!), and also the 78tarot project. I started painting, and LOVED the background, but lost all of my lines completely. Not daunted, I decided to print out a new copy of the ink version, color it, and play with cutting out the figure. I absolutely love how it's working out.

I clearly have more coloring to do, and the satellite needs cut out. Then I'll do gluing and go over it with colored pencil/gel pen touchups. This is so far out of my comfort zone it's not even funny, but it's been great fun, and I think the result is coming along really well.
With my leftover paints, I did a collection of abstract ACEO canvases, which are always fun.
On Sunday, I got to watch my sister sing a solo and go to gaming, where we didn't have a quorum for the RPG, and played a super complex Cthulu boardgame instead. Yummy Mexican food and fellow nerds for the yay.
Then I went home for delicious dinner and Jake and I made the mistake of watching Black Mirror before bed. SO GOOD. SO DISTURBING. TOO CLOSE TO REALITY.
Today so far has been productive. I cleaned the house and even vacuumed upstairs. I've delivered some tweaked print files and done a bunch of administrative things (phone calls, emails, etc). I've got a portrait to do today for the Secret Project client, and need to finish the 78Tarot piece. Also, folding clothes, going outside to play, washing dishes, and one of these days soon I'm going to have to tackle the exploding room of Guppy.

It's cold enough today that the LED light by the garage is doing it's disco-strobe. (That happens at about 25 below.) We saw a sundog driving in today, and I got a photo of small animal evidence when I dropped Guppy off at preschool. I have fingers crossed that it's warmer than 20 below by recess so she can go outside and play! (What? What's your recess cut-off??)
The teashop is unfortunately chilly today, so I'm wearing my sweater and fur hat inside.
You'd think, coming off a major project like I just have, that I'd be taking a breather, but I have one more deadline looming. This one is easy! I have more than a week to finish this:

Research for this was really, really fun, as I'm going for a totally vintage vibe, complete with cold war references.
But I'm not working on it right now, because my inbox has 679 emails I need to deal with. My nose-to-the-grindstone February means some things got... neglected. If you're waiting on me, I apologize! Hopefully most of these just need sorted into folders.
Off to tackle that now!

From 'End of the Rails':
Murder and blackmail were terrible for productivity, Bai decided, trying to focus on a justification form. The entire office was backlogged by a tenday more than it ought to be, which wasn't actually unusual, but the pressure of it felt more intense, and Bai was having more trouble than usual staying on task. A crisp book of updated regulations sat open beside him as he tried to follow a tangled trail of reasoning and argument. The managers below him had split their decisions on this license, and he had already changed his mind several times as he read their arguments and researched precedent. Did this updated license wording apply to this case, or could it be considered under the older regulations because of the date of submital? And if the newer rules did apply, did that mean the primary license this was being applied under needed to be re-examined under the revised justification form?

Creative Friday Update...
Sep. 28th, 2012 06:07 pmGuppy has been incredibly cooperative and is having a sleepy day. She's down for her third nap, and I've been productive:

This was for
ysabetwordsmith's prompt. I plan to tidy it up, move the text around (maybe expand it) and color the image. Eventually...
ETA: If you sponsor $5 or more (use link below, or let me know and you can use Torn World or EMG credits!), I will finish this design (with more awesome selling points on the back), print it on postcards and send you one.

And I finished this, which I started back in July for THAT Muse Fusion, from a prompt by
clare_dragonfly.
Plus, I wrote a 55(!!!) line poem, which I am too impatient not to share with you now...
A Wild Wind
An innocuous breeze,
Just enough to lift lazy snowy tails
And ruffle along their manes.
Clouds along the horizon,
Gray, but not threatening.
Another gust, more persistent.
Rustling at the tentflap, rattling the poles.
Rangers frown at the sky and test the wind.
Darker clouds, and trees to the south sway.
No smell of rain, but the breeze is tugging now,
Less friendly and more persistent...
( Continued! )
The Muse Fusion is still open! Go leave prompts and see what I come up with! http://torn-world.livejournal.com/120141.html
And if you'd like to support my Muse Fusion-ing endeavors, you may do so using this handy link:
(I might not usually shill so, but see previous posts about spending All The Money. I'm feeling more of a need to put back in than usual!)
