New poetry up at Torn World, by Valerie and Elizabeth! Plus, a bucket of new characters for adoption - most of them are bit characters, which are available for further development.
My driveway is un-drivable. The contractor who fixed it last year won't do residential driveways anymore - waiting on a call from another contractor now, and expecting an email of work-related files shortly.
ETA: LO! We will be getting hardpack removed tomorrow morning! Horrah!! VERY nice guy. Very pleased.
Okay, need to do some drafting today once I get my files, some coding on Wendy's site, and work on taxes. Urgh. Stupid taxes.
Now? Breakfast.

Date: 2010-03-22 08:11 pm (UTC)Last year was the first year we ever had it removed (for the same reasons!) but decided it was worth Every Penny. We didn't have mud problems later in the spring, and right now, it's a matter of actively not feeling safe driving up and down. Our drive is super steep, about 500 feet, with a switchback and a turnaround. It was $250 last year, I think, versus a month of icy squish, followed by a month of awful mud that was usually just as bad, and a lot of puddles by the house... it felt like a good investment. Our biggest problem has been finding someone close - or with a job close by - so we didn't have to pay for mobilization from North Pole. If you're in the Cripple Creek area, I know someone will be there tomorrow and possibly the next day! $120/hr (which is as good a rate as I've seen for loader work), SUPER nice guy.
