I think given the effect the surgery will have on your health, no, it's not that weird to be excited and looking forward to it. This whole crash into unwellness seems to have happened very fast, and an equally quick recovery is well worth looking forward to!

Hospital food is horrible, and I bring earplugs because if you are two in a room, or near the nurses station, it can be very hard to get any sleep due to noise.

Sending St Otter's blessings to you!

I admit, I kind of looked forward to my surgery. On the one hand it was discouraging (since it meant prolonging my recovery time), but after I got over that part, it *was* kind of exciting because it was definitely a whole new set of experiences that I'd never had.

(The screw-up with the nerve block -- i.e. it didn't block -- and then the experimentation with the pain medication made the after-surgery part not so much fun. But the "wow, I'm going in the hospital and getting prepped for surgery and going under general anesthesia!" part was interesting.)

Good luck!
