ellenmillion: (big damn wrench)

This morning I sat down at my computer, noodled around a little, then told myself, "Ellen, you know, you'd be a lot less unhappy with your artwork if you practiced more." And, before I could whine about how I didn't have time to practice, I made myself get up and spend an hour painting. It was time I would have otherwise spent... what? Noodling around on the internet? Refreshing the forums I frequent, waiting for comments and wondering why people didn't looooove me and why I was so laaaaame.

(Am I the only one who spends far too much time doing that?)

Now I'm going to set the timer and spend one hour coding on the Fantasy Art Shop/lilypad controls and then I will have a delicious lunch and watch an episode of Angel, take a short walk with the dog, draft for two hours, and spend the rest of the afternoon coding on either Commission-Control, EMG-Zine, Torn World, or... something else. (Perhaps on the the Fantasy Art Shop again, depending on where I left it.)

Not even. *g* One of the big benefits of having a netbook has been that I don't have most of my bookmarks on here and the only major programs are a word processor and a music player, so once I'm done catching up in three or four places (LJ, Twitter, and Facebook) there's nothing else to do but write or shut things down and go do something else. I like it enough I haven't booted up my big computer at all since I got back from my trip.

That looks fabulous! I can't wait to see it all done.

And yes, I hit way too much time hitting refresh. Ugh.

The painting looks really good so far!

Internet takes up so much time and it isn't always productive. I hate how I get on the internet intending to do one thing, and next I know it is three hours later!

Love the painting so far! Those mountains are luscious.
No, you're not the only one who spends far too much time online waiting for something interesting to happen :D
I've actually forced myself to paint outside, in a big chair with a blanket to stay warm. It's much too much effort to get up and be disorganised again to go inside and check the comp :D

I'm working with my own lazyness.
*grin*

I love timers.
Delighted to see where you'll be going with this. All this in an hour! Wow. Acrylic? You've probably already answered that...

Not all this in the hour - just the dark trees! And yes, acrylics. Golden Open acrylics, which have a drying retardant in them, so they squish more like oils.
