I was honestly a little afraid to start it... I haven't heard as much fantalk for this one, and I had convinced myself it was because it wasn't worth talking about. But I quite like it!

I loved SG-1 and was rather afraid I'd not find much attachment to something that was missing Richard Dean Anderson's quippy self.

So when I was bored one night and SGU was on ... I watched an ep ... and was really happy to find characters that had levels of depth and an overarching storyline that I liked and subplots that were interesting.

I actually like it better than the other stargate shows. It seems like a nice cross between stargate and the new battlestar galatica. I was not a die-hard stargate fan, more of a casual "oh hey it's on" type of person.

It does come across that way, doesn't it! A little darker and more arc-plotty. I'm liking it! (And sad I only have an episode left!!)

Orion and I call it Bastards In Space. *g* I don't enjoy it nearly as much as the other Stargates, but it's entertaining; we watched all of the first season and will probably be back for the second.

I had trouble getting past its similarity to the new Battlestar Galactica. The camerawork, in particular, grates on my nerves. However, I find myself yelling at Eli for various reasons (you'll find out what those are later). I find he's the only likable one on that tin can. Well, besides the tin can itself.

Rodney MADE SG:A. I am not sure I would have watched it without him. Eli... I like him more, but he's not as interesting a character. It's sort of like they split Rodney into nice (Eli) and complete jerk (Rush) for this show. I'm not convinced it's as effective. But I'm liking the writing a little more as a whole.

Yeah, I like it more than I expected I would - wasn't much one for SGA, and gave up on SG-1 in one of the late seasons, but so far, SGU and I get along fine!

I felt almost obligated to like SG:A, and SG-1 sort of wandered those last few seasons, but yes, like you, I'm getting on fine with SG:U!

I was very worried about the whole "more like BSG direction" thing, because I don't LIKE dark, miserable, TEH DRAMA shows. Fortunately, they haven't (at least by the end of the first season) gone over the line for me, and I am VERY happy about that!

Me too! I did like BSG, but it got very, VERY dark in places, and I'm happy that SG:U hasn't done that. It's managed to stay charming, so far.
