I've never done a comic before, so I'm not sure I know how to be funny. This may be too obscure or too specific; I have no idea if it will mean anything to you guys, or if it's just something that makes me personally giggle. Let me know! No promises on any followup - I'm not sure if this is a medium for me.

It's available in the non-canon gallery at Torn World, along with nearly 50 other non-public pieces, all of which are entirely free to registered members who are logged in.

My next art project? Is insane. It is almost 6x as big as Journey, and twice as dramatic. It is an old artclass painting that I have tried to fix twice already, but now, FINALLY, I think I have the painting skills to actually pull it off the way I want to. I am doing a whole host of 'you can't do thats', but I'm okay with that... 'You can't do that' is one of my favorite things to disprove.

Today, I have a carload of tea to mail, some coding to do, and bellydance class tonight. I have started interviewing potential POV characters for the untitled, un-outlined Upheaval novel (novella? interwoven short story collection?) and hope to finish and post that during lunch today.

It's obvious there are things I don't know, but it's amusing anyway, and I'm curious to see more. (In theory. In reality, I don't have time. :P)

Well, comics are not required to be funny. A lot of comics are drama, actions, romance, whatever, and not, or only occasionally, funny.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with Torn World to get it. There should be room for A LOT of plotlines on an entire planet. ;)

Also, YAY on the character interviews! :D

If the characters are who I think they are, this is hysterically funny. If the characters are not who I think they are, it is still funny.

One thing to remember with graphic (or comic) stories is that the visual funny works quite well even with gallows humor.

I think it's adorable.

I suspect that anyone who doesn't know who Kativa is won't be quite as tickled, but the idea will still come across.

I still got a chuckle out of it, the serious vs the silly. :) Yay, teateatea!

If you do decide you want to start doing more comics, I might recommend checking out Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud. It covers a lot of how comics work on the page, text vs. pictures, and all sorts of neat stuff. I even learned a lot about visual art and storytelling in general from it...but I'm not exactly well-schooled in either of those areas.

Good luck with the giant art project. :)

Oo, thanks for the recommendation! I shall look it up. :)

And I think the giant art project will have to wait until after NaNoWriMo.... :P
