ellenmillion: (Are You Sure?)

I was thinking about format for the FAQ, and thought to ask: how do you like your FAQ presented? With a list of questions at the top that jumps down to the answers? (ala PA) I was also thinking about folding the page, so that the list of questions is what you see at first, but when you click on the question, it unfolds right there (the page doesn't reload, you don't jump, and you DEFINITELY don't go to a new page [I hate that]). Or is it better just to have the question, then the short answer, maybe with an unfold for a more detailed answer? Hmmm....

Personally, I like the AJAX accordion the best ("folding the page"). Takes up less visual room and none of those pesky "Back to top" links.

I second a preference for the folding page kind of faq. I am not sure if that is more of a pain to code, but as a user I find it by far the most navigable version!

I prefer the folding page links.

I'd prefer the "folding/unfolding" type of FAQ, as well. If your FAQ isn't too long, this has the added benefit of being able to fit a message that says, "If your question hasn't been answered, please contact me here!" within the same screen. (That way, you don't have to scroll around to find the contact info.)

I like one long page that I can scroll through or search. Unfolding is generally acceptable.

I don't care, as long as there is a list of questions at the top.

The last thing you mentioned sounds best to me.

My favorite.

I like this kind, because it makes it easier for me to tell if a question is going to be the one I'm looking for without having to click on it to find out.

No new pages, definitely! I really don't mind jumps, though ...
