I noticed today as we were loading the water tank into Jake's truck that a tire was flat, so he had to take my car (precious car!!) in to work. My books were scanned in in FL on Saturday, so it's unlikely that they will arrive today, but I was hoping for a trip to the gym, which won't happen now. I shall have to take Norway for a (soggy) walk and do situps, instead. Alas!

A picture of our geekness:

I handed Jake a bar of soap in the shower and warned him, "This is our last soap."

He answered: "Obi-Wan Kenobi."

And on that topic, we watched Lawrence of Arabia this weekend. A good movie, and I'm glad I watched it for context and historical interest, but it doesn't make my top ten list. The first bit of the whole movie was really QUITE Star Wars. Deserts, swords, white-boy misfits discovering their destinies (and dressing up in robes).... and Obi-Wan Kenobi! I thought it was just the particular cadence of his voice, but we looked it up, and it actually IS the same actor who plays the prince. A little surreal. I missed the robots, though. I think the movie would have been greatly improved with more robots.

The Sketch Fest artistic high lasted well into the weekend; I got a good start on a Portrait Adoption submitted description, worked on a piece for the Arabian Nights coloring book (and sketched another possibility) and I did a new collection of abstracts - bigger this time:

The photo doesn't do the colors justice, of course. The biggest is 11x14, then an 8x10 and a 4x5.

Stumbled out of the blocks on my elance project (because the password I had been given was wrong!), but am tackling it now, and am satisfied I can get things working better for this client within our budget. :)

Also on the topic of programming, artists for Sketch Fest, you can now get a preview of who bought your work. It doesn't show you addresses (yet), but will, eventually. And it only shows purchases since March, I think, and it's only sorting correctly since late Saturday. There's also a CHANCE that things will show up there that I never received payment for, so I will still send you a complete email with your sales and the addresses to ship to. :) http://ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestadmin.php

In other topics, I have no time for more right now! I hope some of you Sketch Festers will finish the awesome owl work that was created for our August issue of EMG-Zine! The deadline is at the end of the month!

LOL, Ellen. Sir Alec Guinness came to loathe both Obi-Wan and Star Wars, and your post shows exactly the reason why. :-)
The poor man could not stand being always and only Obi-Wan to generations of movie goers, no matter what else he had done (The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Prisoner, Kind Hearts and Coronets, Doctor Zhivago...).

Please, no robots (and no lightsabers either) In Lawrence of Arabia, at least for *this* moviegoer, it's in my favorite list since I first saw it at 14 (and turned me to watching each and every movie Peter O'Toole worked in).

Sunshine arrived some days ago! I have put it in a wee frame I had that fit, but is sort of dark and heavy for it and covers too much of the edges, so I'm trying to decide what might work more gracefully with it.

Your abstract art definitely does look like you watched Lawrence of Arabia!

I like that movie, though it predated Star Wars by quite a lot. Of course, I like the lead actor in just about anything he did. Have you seen The Ruling Class?

Noooo, you are supposed to be painting cool things, like snow, and snow...and ice...<:) The suns are really neat though, I do like the colors. :) Yes, everyone needs to finish the owls and Mushrooms! Ellen, do you think "Winkin', Blinkin,' and Nod" is polish enough for EMG-zine? I am not sure how fantasy it is though, so I am hesitating to submit it. The purchased preview thing is great! Maybe once we get you paid for the cool things you have added so far there can be a couple sorting features, like by date sold, and by purchaser. :)

Wow, if those photos don't do justice, the colors must just pop. That's a treat for my eyes~
