Wrote and gymed and paid bills and caught up on one or two overdue things and ate things and half-watched the Russel Crowe version of Robin Hood (which I very much liked) and did art and now feel desperately like a nap, though I suspect I am going to go work on the bedroom instead...

I wasn't keen on the Russel Crowe Robin Hood. It's been a while since I watched it but I can't even really remember what happened now.

I did hear just the other day though that the movie was meant to be something entirely different. The screenplay was originally sold with the concept of being from the Sheriff's POV, with him and his people solving a series of murders in the region using scientific techniques of the era. The murders were being blamed on Robin Hood, which is how he came into it.

Then the directors/marketers/producers got it and decided that it had to be about Robin Hood only to be marketable, and stripped all of that out and left.. well, what was left, which I don't remember being much.

I wish they'd left it the original way. That sounded awesome!

That plotline sounds nothing like what they ended up with - which was some wild French plot to impersonate British soldiers and cause a civil war and land on a northern beach (all thwarted by our hero Robin, of course). The sheriff was the usual drooling buffoon.

I want to see the original plot much more, I confess!
