Would it shock you to know [livejournal.com profile] sholio made it for me? I'm always looking for an excuse to use it. :P

Hey there... I wondered, now that it's a bit more automated, could the matter of extending the Sketchfest to last longer than 24 hours be re-opened for discussion? I know I pretty-much-missed at least three this year because I had some event, like a family birthday, on the Saturday.

And even if you are strictly against more than 24 hours, could maybe the opening/closing times be discussed? We were at it in chat, and two people mentioned that the time window turned rather unfortunate since they got a regular job.

I admit--I'm guilty of being one of those people!

Since I regained gainful employment, the sketchfest starts while I'm at work, so I miss about 4 hours before I even get home, and that's if I go home on time (this week, a new client couldn't make it in during normal hours, for instance). I've also found it takes a while to get my brain switched from work-stuff to art-stuff, and I'm usually TIRED on Friday too. I've been finding that by the time I'm ready to switch to art, I'm also too tired to focus on it properly, and if I sleep in on Saturday (one of the PREMIER pleasures of the world, when I'm working in an office and have to get up at the crack of dawn every week day) then by the time I get up and have breakfast, it's mostly over. Heck--even while I was unemployed, I rarely got anything done on Saturday morning, doubtless simply because it's morning! (I am SO not a morning person!)

Which is a long-winded way to say I'd be pleased to see a discussion of whether the current 24-hour plan is the best plan for most people involved in sketchfest.

The timing actually works well for me, I have a rather strange work schedule. If I still worked retail it wouldn't work for me because I used to work Friday and Saturday all day, so I understand. Maybe I'd be less nuts if it was longer (actually get all mine inked as well)? Or I could get myself into more trouble! :D
I've been known to set my regular alarm on Saturday to get up and have the most hours left for Sketchfest. :)

A feature I'd like to see, a way to carry over prompts. BTW, we had two holly king prompts, one was "The Holly King", and the other was "The Holly King!" . XD I did The Holly King, then I saw The Holly King! (which had two people claiming it anyways)

Ohhh, you know what might be interesting, letting people pick their own 24 hours to Sketch Fest in...like pick a week and they can pick any 24 hours during that week...that would be crazy...and probably impossible to figure. <:) Okay, too crazy, one of the cool things about SF is the way everyone is all doing it at one time. "Hety, let me use some of your Sketch Fest time..." "No way! It isn't my fault you used yours up the first chance you got!" Speaking of SF, time to scan some pictures, finish some, and get some ready for the post tomorrow. :)
