Just bought a new washer and dryer. Ours were... 10 or 20 years old, at least, and free or second hand, and while they still worked, the washer sucked a LOT of water (old-fashioned top-loader) and the dryer had a very suspicious squeeeeeeeaaaaaaaak to it that warned of bearings ready to fail. Sears had the set we liked for close to 35% off, and it was rated VERY highly by Consumers Digest, so... next week some burly men* should arrive to schlep our shiny new toys into the basement.

And, while we were there (at Sears), we looked at cribs, because Guppy is thiiiiis close to being ready to pull up, and my personal experience, in that very cradle, was to unexpectedly pull myself up and dump myself out onto the floor. Mom says that was traumatic, so I'm going to try to bypass that experience and put Guppy in a crib sooner than later. It makes me very sad to put the cradle away - it has such layers of family memory at this point! And shark sheets! Anyway, the crib (convertible to toddler bed) and mattress and one set of sheets (they didn't have sharks. :() are ready for pickup and Jake will get them on the way home, and a few more sheets are on order. We still need a highchair and will need a new carseat within a few months, but we'd spent all the money in the world by that point, so called it a day.

*Or women. Or possibly stringy teenagers with something to prove. I don't mind, as long as it's not ME navigating the basement steps with a several hundred pound appliance.

Speaking of Highchairs

I saw a super posh highchair at Cribs, Cradles, and Things while I was pregnant that I really really wanted but could never afford. It was so freaking neat. Then by some crazy chance I found one used and in really good condition at Once Upon a Child.

Brace yourself. Used, the Svan Highchair is 150.00 freaking dollars. You might google it tho and see if it tickles your fancy. It's adjustable, doesn't take up a whole lot of space and grows with the guppy (or in our case, puppy) until they're full grown.

By this point there are prolly similar on the market for waayyy less.

Congrats on your new washer and dryer! I hope the babe takes to her new crib:)

Ooooo... that's a swanky high chair. I will have to keep an eye out for one. I like the not taking up lots of space and not being something they outgrow in a few months. We ordered a clip-on high chair thingy that was REALLY cool, but didn't work with our table - the skirt was too deep and didn't leave room for her legs.

Also, hey, you! Welcome to Livejournal! :P

I found that with the clip-ons as well. There's some neat once that have straps to hook around any type of chair, but the table gets in the way:( We found that now that Measure is climbing and walking that she loves sitting at her own toddler size chair and table. The one we found was twenty bucks and included two chairs. Harold & I usually just pull up a pillow and join her at her level.

And thanks! I think I might like this place...fantastically more my style than FB...

Woohoo on new washer/dryer. When we got our front loader washer, it was like stepping into a whole new wonderful world. LOL!

Sometimes you got to splurge on new appliances! We have over the past couple of years...washer, dryer, fridge. We go to Lowe's though. Hubby gets a Veterens discount there and it really helps.
