Sears has all my money...
Sep. 26th, 2012 02:21 pmJust bought a new washer and dryer. Ours were... 10 or 20 years old, at least, and free or second hand, and while they still worked, the washer sucked a LOT of water (old-fashioned top-loader) and the dryer had a very suspicious squeeeeeeeaaaaaaaak to it that warned of bearings ready to fail. Sears had the set we liked for close to 35% off, and it was rated VERY highly by Consumers Digest, so... next week some burly men* should arrive to schlep our shiny new toys into the basement.
And, while we were there (at Sears), we looked at cribs, because Guppy is thiiiiis close to being ready to pull up, and my personal experience, in that very cradle, was to unexpectedly pull myself up and dump myself out onto the floor. Mom says that was traumatic, so I'm going to try to bypass that experience and put Guppy in a crib sooner than later. It makes me very sad to put the cradle away - it has such layers of family memory at this point! And shark sheets! Anyway, the crib (convertible to toddler bed) and mattress and one set of sheets (they didn't have sharks. :() are ready for pickup and Jake will get them on the way home, and a few more sheets are on order. We still need a highchair and will need a new carseat within a few months, but we'd spent all the money in the world by that point, so called it a day.
*Or women. Or possibly stringy teenagers with something to prove. I don't mind, as long as it's not ME navigating the basement steps with a several hundred pound appliance.

Speaking of Highchairs
Date: 2012-09-26 10:49 pm (UTC)Brace yourself. Used, the Svan Highchair is 150.00 freaking dollars. You might google it tho and see if it tickles your fancy. It's adjustable, doesn't take up a whole lot of space and grows with the guppy (or in our case, puppy) until they're full grown.
By this point there are prolly similar on the market for waayyy less.
Congrats on your new washer and dryer! I hope the babe takes to her new crib:)
