This project was a TON of fun. I really enjoyed it, and will be doing something like it again soon. It has helped me break out of my fear of color, and I have rediscovered my love of colored pencils in a Big way. Thank you for all your input, whether you could sponsor something or not, and for voting in the polls along the way. I love being able to make art an interactive process. :)
I've got my next art project on my drawing table (aka kitchen table) right now - it will be a piece for the Fantastrix coloring book, because we blew right through that stretch goal! I have decided it will be an Alaskan Dryads piece that spans the seasons and includes birds, just because. I've got winter (spruce, spruce grouse), spring (willow, robin), and autumn (birch tree, great-horned owl) sketched up... but I'm a little stymied on summer. I am sorely tempted to do fireweed and ravens, because that's the first plant I think of for Alaskan summers... but fireweed is not a tree. Do other plants have dryads? I'm sort of already pushing the boundary with willow, as our willow does NOT grow into trees. I could do cottonwood, but it's not very visually inspiring. I suppose I could look further south and do the cedar that grows on the coast. hmm.
The small monster is wandering around at my feet asking for attention, so I'm going to go work on THAT monster project for a while.
