I am vowing to cut down on Facebook. I keep thinking to myself "I just have to scroll through my newsfeed..." and keep scrolling and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling... and mostly all it gains me is bad feelings ("These people are idiots and don't know about Snopes.com," "This person has 15,000 likes on their artist page and I am a big nobody," "Does this person realize how offensive they sound?" and "Good heavens, if their life sucked any more they could rent themselves out as a vacuum.") I love that it's connected me with old friends and family, and I'll probably make a few filters and continue to check those feeds that improve my life, but my activity will be greatly curtailed. Too much to do!

I will continue to check in with Livejournal, as it is much more manageable now that so many people have migrated to the soundbite sites of Twitter and Facebook. Even here, though - So Much To Do! So, I apologize for not answering or leaving comments very reliably.

Today is Sketch Fest! Join in with prompts and sketches in any media! I took a look at my goals for the year and realized that I'm most lacking in Portrait Adoption pieces, so that's what I hope to work on today. Colored pencil on colored paper is my plan. And on that note, if you're wondering where to assign your donations, I have Big Major updates to that site that I'd really, really like to work on. I am lining them out right now, and am thinking they won't seem quite as intimidating once I jump in. (Crossing fingers)

I've got a new poem up at Torn World - this was the clear winner of my freebie poll last week! I suspect people were intrigued by 'creepy' in the description.

Guppy's favorite word this week is "Beeeeee." Specifically, she is referring to beets, which she loves a lot.

Tired Guppy is Tired. At least the floor is getting well used! She was probably worn out from pushing that box around with gloves all the other day. :D

For FB, I adjusted a lot of the settings for individuals, I don't think I have anyone set so that I get all of the notifications (like comments folks make on other peoples posts). I've cut way back on my actual postings, usually I just comment on stuff. FB does suck up a lot of time, but I wouldn't feel obligated to comment on every single thing, folks know that folks have stuff to do. :)

I wanna speed paint some of my uncolored PA things, I am getting restless with all the old stuff up there. I have to reload my tablet driver though because it is being Stupid, the pen doesn't track right on the tablet. BTW, how is it coming along with the Sketchfest Auction option? :)

Yeah, that's why I've set a lot of people (but not you! :) )to Important Updates Only. Once that's clicked, basically all of their posts disappear from my feed (even Facebook realizes that their posts are useless), and I can still check in on/interact with them when I want.

But I'm also not very active on FB anyway. Mostly just post about cool art/comic related things or movies I like. Stay away from anything even remotely hot-button, and barely even comment on other people's posts (sick of getting dragged into conversations/arguments with other people I don't even know).

That's a cute pic of the guppy. Boy, don't I wish that people will use Snopes before posting on facebook. I used to take the time to debunk stuff, but there is just not enough hours in the day. People should know not to believe every little thing. Oh well. I may try to leave some prompts, but can't see making sketches today. Gotta take kitties to the vet and other fun stuff.

I too have cut back on Facebook. I'm almost entirely off of Twitter. I like LJ because here I can actually interact with people I care about! FB is largely for looking at pictures of people's children and keeping up peripherally.
