Today, I packed up Guppy and we went to the Children's Museum! (About two hours after I meant to, as I had to delete my phone camera memory, and there was a poopy diaper, and then she was hungry, and there was an emergency order that had to go out...)

I've been wondering if the exhibits would be too old for her, but they weren't at all - there were lots and LOTS of things to do, and most of them sort of scaled, so there was plenty for her to do, that would continue to be engaging for a much older kid, too.

She was fascinated by the pinwall:

We also spent some time with the wind tunnel, and she loved chasing the balls that it spat out. There were also several 'build-a-ball-maze' activities that she had fun putting balls into.

But her favorite was the 'sandbox'. It's filled with a resin-y fake bark stuff that can be moved from bucket to bucket:

There was a cool balance and some construction toys in the sandbox, too, but she just wanted to fill and un-fill the buckets.

The only real bummer was that she napped in the car afterwards - I actually left Safeway without waking her up instead of doing the shopping, and then she insists she doesn't need another nap, which means **I** don't get a nap in which to do any work. I have fed the dog and run him around, started a fire in the woodstove, because it's supposed to be 30 below overnight, and have potatoes in the oven. And there's the timer! Beep beep!

Hehehe... when we have visitors from abroad in summer, we usually take them to a sandsculpture exhibit by the beach. Giant sandsculptures, loads of detail, everything really impressive - and the best part of the trip for the kids?

The sandbox next to the kiosk. ;)
