Fridaily with How to Train Your Toddler

We watched How to Train Your Dragon three times yesterday. I am not usually a TV-all-day Mom, but when little snuffly-Guppigus looks at me with those big eyes and asks super politely, "Can we pwease watch How to Dwagon again?" in her super stuffed-up voice I melt like a snowball on a hotplate. And this is an awesome movie. I'm not actually sick of it yet.



"Where's Moss?" she asks.

I've figured out who she means by this. "You mean Astrid?"

"Yeah! Mustard!"



The first time she saw Toothless, she said with glee, "It's kitty! A kitty cat!"

"It's a dragon," I elaborate.

"A kittycat dragon!" And that is what Toothless has been, ever since. When we went out for our walk in the snow, she wanted to find her kittycat dragon. "He's my friend!" she explained.


She woke up this morning about 4 AM; I could barely hear her congested plea for help. She was miserable enough to ask for nosedrops, which she HATES. I spent the rest of the night very restlessly, because I kept thinking I heard her crying. I'm going to set up her monitor again tonight, I think.

And little snuffleface is up now, so I'm off. Probably to watch 'How to Dragon' again.

This is so unbearable cuuuuute. I love that movie (both those movies; the sequel is great too, though probably quite a bit less tiny-kid-friendly than the first one) -- I expect watching it at toddler frequency could probably, er, dull the affection somewhat, but it is a neat movie and the catlike aspects of Toothless's body language were something Orion & I had noticed as well. Though maybe not quite to that extent.

I've actually got the artbook for the second movie, because the set and character designs are so cool in that one -- it's very steampunk, a lot more so than the first one!

How to Dragon is in fact a *great* movie, and Young Indiana feels as strongly about his friendship with Toothless as Guppy does. :)

I won't, however, let him watch How to Dragon 2, because while I loved it, holy crap the second half is not appropriate for wee ones.

Oh, good to know! I was planning to add it to our netflix dvd queue, and will hold off for a while.

Awww, poor Guppy, darn daycare germs, but it will make her stronger in the long run. Hang in the Guppy, you'll get better soon! I really liked HTTYD, haven't seen the second one yet.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with Guppy. Toothless is a kittycat dragon. (Also the opinion of the folks I went to see it in theater with when it came out...)

It could be much, much worse—Ben's nephew was fixated on the Yogi Bear movie the last time we visited, and oh dear god that movie is terrible.

I can barely handle the sequel. Sobbing. So much sobbing. Good, but sobbing.
