I finished a portrait for Portrait Adoption, made a few quick adjustments, and it has been adopted (though a few details still need ironed out because the client found an awesome and exciting new bug). Here's a look. His name is Harlan, and I don't know WHY I keep deciding to do complicated architecture in my pieces lately.

Swim class was this morning, and it went better than last time. I stayed the whole class in the hot tub. (Okay, sometimes I sat NEXT to the hot tub, because 45 minutes is too long to spend in water that hot.) Guppy wandered away from class twice to come talk to me and beg me to come swimming or for hugs, but then went BACK to class under her own power and went swimming again. While it was not a smashing success, it was decidedly a success. She is still talking to her imaginary cat and her imaginary dog, but I expect a sleep-of-the-dead nap at any moment now.

There were cherries on sale. I had to get them. Even though $3.99 a lb would not be considered a sale anywhere else in the world... it's half off here!

I picked up my coloring book reprints and the proof of the new one today. Those guys are great. Their office looks dumpy, but their quality is through the roof, and they're so friendly and fast.

In social media news, I've caved and gotten a Pinterest account. I DETEST the way they wouldn't let you browse the site without an account, and finally caved, hating myself as I did. I don't know what I will do with it now. I suspect there are advertising opportunities there, as lots and lots of my google searches lead over there. I also got a tumblr account, and I have even less idea what to do here. I'm ellenmillion at both places, of course. For now, I'm feeding Instagram over to tumblr.

Art now.

Oh, that's a cool image, though! I love the linework and the implied lines around the feet.

I followed you on tumblr - I'm laylainalaska. (Feel no obligation whatsoever to follow me back. At least not if you don't want your tumblr dashboard deluged periodically in fan stuff. :P)

As far as using Tumblr for promotion, whenever you make a new post -- as opposed to reblogging other people's stuff, which doesn't work the same -- the first five tags show up in Tumblr's general tag search. Therefore, you can (potentially) get new people to find your stuff by tagging for relatively common, if applicable, search terms: for example, "dragon" or "unicorn" might be good ones. I've had a couple pieces of art actually go very slightly viral by doing this.

Because complicated architecture looks cool and lets you show off your shading and texturing chops?

I think I don't want to meet Harlan in a dark alley, or maybe anywhere. And what's that widget he's holding ...?

3.99 is not a terrible price for cherries around here. They'll sometimes get lower at peak season, but they're usually higher.

Yeah, pinterest decided to make itself as irksome as possible without quite being completely useless to folks not logged in, last I checked. I was irked (good work guys, I guess?), and have been avoiding them.

It's a sonic screwdriver! :)

I'm also never one to back down from a challenge. Foolishly so...

Haha, I had the same experience with Pinterest. At some point I just really needed to look at one picture, because it was tutorialish, and joined with my FB account. It was annoying how many emails it started sending me about pins and such, while I haven't used the account for anything else at all, emails about people following me, while I did not pin anything. I revoked my FB access a while ago, because I was so annoyed. XD I still don't see the point though, why google would direct me to Pinterest, while everything people pin is actually coming from some place else.

Really interesting. This is different from your usual style, would never have guessed it was yours. :)

And yup, that's exactly the reason why I got a Pinterest account as well.

I wanted something super dramatic... and have been watching perhaps too much superhero TV lately!

I use Pinterest (ianuk) to organize things I want to make, tutorials on how to do things, aesthetics I want to follow for costuming or art. You can turn off all of the notifications and just use it for your own thing.I only looked for my own stuff for quite some time before I noticed other people had things that were cool. I pin images I need for cosplay etc.

Since I do reenactment its nice to link to all of the archeological items in museums to peoples interpretation of the items. My husband saw no point to it until I used it as a board for people to see what they could make us for clothing for a thing and now he uses it for inspiration for Viking carving on his wood working.

I don't get Tumblr....its like a big chain letter on various topics which to me is weird.

Social media is a vast and interesting place, use it as you like.

I'm glad that Guppy is acclimating to class at the pool. That is awesome.
