I finished a portrait for Portrait Adoption, made a few quick adjustments, and it has been adopted (though a few details still need ironed out because the client found an awesome and exciting new bug). Here's a look. His name is Harlan, and I don't know WHY I keep deciding to do complicated architecture in my pieces lately.

Swim class was this morning, and it went better than last time. I stayed the whole class in the hot tub. (Okay, sometimes I sat NEXT to the hot tub, because 45 minutes is too long to spend in water that hot.) Guppy wandered away from class twice to come talk to me and beg me to come swimming or for hugs, but then went BACK to class under her own power and went swimming again. While it was not a smashing success, it was decidedly a success. She is still talking to her imaginary cat and her imaginary dog, but I expect a sleep-of-the-dead nap at any moment now.

There were cherries on sale. I had to get them. Even though $3.99 a lb would not be considered a sale anywhere else in the world... it's half off here!

I picked up my coloring book reprints and the proof of the new one today. Those guys are great. Their office looks dumpy, but their quality is through the roof, and they're so friendly and fast.

In social media news, I've caved and gotten a Pinterest account. I DETEST the way they wouldn't let you browse the site without an account, and finally caved, hating myself as I did. I don't know what I will do with it now. I suspect there are advertising opportunities there, as lots and lots of my google searches lead over there. I also got a tumblr account, and I have even less idea what to do here. I'm ellenmillion at both places, of course. For now, I'm feeding Instagram over to tumblr.

Art now.

It's not as cold as it was yesterday - it was 37 below yesterday but is up to a balmy -16 now. Toasty! I still have a lovely fire going, because I am a wimp, and that feels cold for some reason. It's much colder in town, and they have ice fog, which I have escaped, at least.

I've been incredibly social the last week or so - daycare with the Guppy, a playdate, a friend over for lasagne this weekend, a friend over for Sketch Fest last week! I've initiated all of it myself, which is pretty astonishing if you know what an introvert I am. I could quite happily stay home all day long every day, especially in this weather, scribbling in the corner while the baby naps. But I know it's good to get out, to make connections, be friendly, so I'm making a genuine effort, and it's been satisfying. A little exhausting, and now I'm ready for a nice hunker-down, I confess, but I'm glad to have done it. Other people are a good thing.

Programming to do today, and taxes (367 entries down, 101 to go!). Sketch Fest payments (round 2) are off. Email is disastrous, but getting beaten into submission - got some 50-odd messages replied to, sorted and solved to get my inbox back down to a humiliating 400. Edited the first five installments of the North v. South storyline that are going to start going up soon and started stringing words into the outline for the sixth. I wrote the Day 1 entry for the Worldbuilding Blogfest last night and set it to auto-post (HORRAH), and need to get Day 2 written today. I have the bones of it together. Day 3 (magic and religion) will be the tricky one. But fun!

Okay, blogging wind-down time over. Time for a hot drink and web design until the world's best baby wakes up.

DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE!!!

I have finished my last story for Kadanzer and they are both sent off for approvals. I will probably have some edits to do, but the huge, mind-crushing bulk of the job is done. DONE.

What a weight off.

Also, there is a new issue of EMG-Zine up, now that I have squashed a couple of lingering bugs, posted a lost feature and added the ad graphics.

Did I mention I was done with Kadanzer? I'm just waiting on approvals, may need to make tiny, minor edits, and I am DONE.

*sniffles*

(ETA: I just counted - I produced more than 65 pieces of fiction for Kaz, or contributed to them, and more than 80 pieces of artwork. No wonder it's so hard to say goodbye.)

I spent the tailend of 2007 in a baking hot sauna, after being indoctrinated to Rock Band. I was absolutely sure that it sounded like the Stupidest Video Game ever, but it is addictive fun, and Jennie apparently has still not recovered from listening to me sing Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld. A LOT of fun. Then I had a peppermint chocolate milkshake and went home to toast the countdown with Jake.

(Countdown TV is STUPID, btw... wow, inanity redefined.)

I slept in this morning until 11 or so, and made my official withdrawal from a few more sites and decided to go cold turkey on two others that I only lurked at for the drahma.

More focus for 2008!
