I do not have a sewing machine, and I'm not the amazing seamstress my Mom is, but I do have a hot glue gun and a roll of duct tape. I spent the precious hours of quiet time today making duct tape spikes and cutting out an Astrid (from How to Train Your Dragon) skirt. It turned out AMAZING, and when I got Guppy up to try it on, she refused to.

I've decided that I will go to her Halloween party as Astrid, and she can go as an orphan.

(later)

She decided to try everything on.

BEHOLD my duct tape spikes! And the headband with velcro sizing! The tiny skulls! The cut-up sock arm-warmers! The discount axe! (I do need to re-hot-glue two of the spikes, but it appears to be pretty sturdy as a whole.)

The whole thing was less than $20, and beats the snot out of anything in a plastic bag.

(This did mean no #inktobers today, nor words. IT WAS WORTH IT.)

She looks AWESOME.

And she would have deserved your wearing it instead. :)

I am a startled that this is an practical option. Would that costume actually fit you?

Actually, yes... it's a wrap-around skirt on her, and would only be a front panel on me, but the straps are long enough, and I have a small head and tried on her headband - the velcro closure is several inches of overlap on her and works on me, too. The shoulder guards are saftey pinned on, so I could put them on my own shirt. I'd need shorts or a skirt of my own, and my own boots, of course, but the accent pieces all work for both of us. My forearms even fit the arm-warmers, they are that stretchy. She should get a lot of use out of it, if it's sturdy enough to survive.

Awesome! You need an axe, too. I suspect you have a real one, but that might not go over well at halloween party -- and probably isn't a dramatic double-bladed war axe. :)
