Just supposing I wanted to put together an anthology of well-written, thoroughly and well-illustrated fantasy and science fiction short stories (first time print rights required, previously e-published [but taken down on acceptance] acceptable), would any of you have entries?

Purely theoretical, of course, 'cause it's not like that's something I'd actually like to do. *whistling innocently*

Also, a stupid funny!

The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from generation to generation, says that:

"When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount."

However, in government (and in corporate America) more advanced strategies are often employed...such as:

1. Buying a stronger whip.

2. Changing riders.

3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.

4. Arranging to visit other countries to see how other cultures ride horses

5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.

6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living impaired.

7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.

8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.

9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase dead horse's performance.

10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.

11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than live horses.

12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.

13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

I would try both of these, although I'd need to redo the illustrations and probably rewrite some parts of them:

Lost Souls:

Cheesy Grin (childrens story):

I'd be interested! Not that I'd fit into either category, but I'd probably purchase it X)

Well, sure! Assuming I could manage the well-written part. Someone else might have to manage the illustrative bits. ;)

I'd be interested. Well-written is the easy part, but I'd need an objective eye to tell me if I could do the well-illustrated bit.

I'd be interested! I know I can do the written part, not so sure about the illustrated part...

Well, I don't have illustrations for them, but I've been told they were quite well-written:

[Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<a [...] http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/libr/m/j/mja/dragon.htm.html">') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

Well, I don't have illustrations for them, but I've been told they were quite well-written:

<a href="http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/libr/m/j/mja/lights.htm.html>Lights in the Darkness</a>
<a href="http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/libr/m/j/mja/dragon.htm.html">Dragon!</a>

And I'm currently in the process of writing an SF short story called 'Bzzzt' of all names, which I hope to get through Critters soon...

I'd be happy to purchase said product :)

And if you wanted a professional editor for proofing/copyediting of text/layout/final version before it goes to press, I'm happy to volunteer my services.... :)

Interested? I've been drooling over doing just such a project for ... well, for a very long time. Are you thinking about 'one-per' methods, meaning that artist and writer are the same person, or cooperative efforts between a writing specialist and an artist?

I'd love to be involved with either version, but I don't have tons of free time for a side-project right now. If you have artists who need a writer, I'll raise my hand in an instant.

Nosily,
~Vayenne

*laughs* I hadn't thought that far ahead. I was just tickling the audience and seeing if there was any interest beyond my own for such a publication. I think there is. :P

Now I shall have to figure out details...
