In houses here you almost never find the bathroom near the kitchen - it used to be law that you had to have at least two closeable doors between your toilet and kitchen area.
I like your house, it looks like it will be lovely and open plan

It does make sense in some way. Over here, toilets leading off from the kitchen is nothing unusual. I occasionally use the toilet to dispose of heavy gravy I won't throw into the sink. XD

my grandmother can remember when people first started to have toilets inside the house.
She said it was a bit of a scandal in the beginning, prior to that even if the toilet flushed it was always either in an outhouse or a room built onto the house that you had to go outside and walk around to get to it.

Our thinking behind that was ease of building: all of the water piping is right in that corner. And we only have two closeable doors in the whole house!!

Custom shelves for EMG: to hold paper and stationery and other such things. We'll have to build those, so they won't be there right away.
