Woo! Just finished my work for the day and have time to kill. Yay!

Need to send an update to my lists today, finish the Wish3 pdfs, finish the calendar and drop it off for printing, and get the rest of the t-shirt order out. Oh, and dang, there are some emails to write. *cracks knuckles* Can do!

Oh, and I want to get chiro-ed, 'cause I really need it and I'm sure that didn't help my head yesterday...

EDIT: Appointment to be crack-poppled tomorrow afternoon. Excellent!

Having LJ difficulties posting replies to comments, so it's not that I'm ignoring you or didn't appreciate your comment, just that after four times trying to post my reply, I give up.

Very behind at PA again... and EMG updating...

I'm not impressed, people. And I don't mean about the outcome. I mean about the post-election grousing. Just because 'your guy' didn't win, doesn't mean 'our country sucks' 'everyone who voted for the other guy sucks' 'the whole world sucks and everyone's stupid' or we're going to be under marital law next week. If you don't like the results, fine, say that. I'd understand. But don't get all freaked out and start making huge generalities about people who don't happen to agree with you and have every right not to. Be reasonable, eh? Take the higher ground, and learn to live with disappointment instead of throwing little temper tantrums because things don't go your way.

Geez.

Standard disclaimer, yeah, I know it's your LJ and you can cry if you want to. I can too, and I can't stand it when people blindly spew out personal insults in frustration and become unreasonable in the face of adversity.

Off to do stuff!!

THANK YOU. I must've read about how stupid I am on about 20 entries. My flist is covered in it. I'm horrified.

*pats* You're a wonderful person, I assume, and whether you voted for Bush, Kerry, or Donald Duck, your political affiliation certainly doesn't change that. :) :)

Amen!! I am not a moster, I am not a mindless, stupid, ignorant sheep. I am a reasonable, thinking adult... and just because my vote differs from someone else's, doesn't mean the world's going to end tomorrow.

You're absolutely right - you're not. And fie on anyone who says you are! I figured you needed a little encouragement.. ;)

I have to admit I was guilty of thinking Bush voters are stupid. I still don't understand why anyone would rationally have voted for Bush, but I now realize that this is a failure of my understanding rather than of everybody else's rationality.

At the risk of starting a big argument, can I ask for someone to enlighten me? I promise to listen, and not make any accusations.

I think I'd rather not get in to a long litany of Bush as a person (who I happen to loathe and despise), but I have sound and rational friends who voted for Bush, not because of the man, but because they believe in certain Republican principles, although I believe there is room to argue how well the GOP adheres to those principles (below are just a few):
-Less government is better
-Authority should devolve to the states more than the federal government
-Free market economy with less regulation will adapt to societal values (including safety standards, etc.)
-A strong, active, well-funded military is a necessary tool of diplomacy (more so than the Democratic party)

Because of the philosophy of less government, state-level authority, and a market economy, they would argue that the Federal Government should tax less and fund less, but that the states should step up and do more. Business, in theory, would support programs and good business standards, because if they don't consumers will take their business elsewhere. Republicans ostensibly stand for fiscal conservativism.

It is important to remember that the Republican party is a big party, and is home to a host of people with differing outlooks, not all of whom agree on all issues. On the one hand there are the moderates and centrists and on the other there are the evangelical fundamentalists.

There are members of the Republican party who embrace the principles the party is supposed to stand for and eschew the extremist philosophy of certain members. By remaining within the party, they hope to moderate the radical right, and bring the party back to its principles and foundation.

I think Mary Anne pretty much nailed my reasons for not supporting Kerry. Sure, I'm pro-choice and don't believe in the religious right, but I also don't believe in the liberal left. I want LOW federal involvement in the states, high personal rights with appropriate personal responsibility, and tough and independent world involvement.

I do NOT want the world democracy that Kerry seems to advocate... you think these elections were bad? Imagine a world-wide election. We are greatly, greatly outnumbered. Our way of life could not be sustained on a world-wide basis. There's a balance, both presidents are WAY too extreme in their approaches to how to deal with other countries and international affairs. Heck, ALL of the presidential candidates sounded too extreme when I read up on them. There is happy middle-ground between trying to make everyone happy at our own expense and pushing our considerable weight around without fear of the consequences.

My biggest problem is that none of the candidates look far enough ahead and NONE of them are smart enough to come up with solutions or wise enough to surround themselves with people who are.

I am thankful not to be in the habit of reading very many peoples' LJs (I generally choose the LJs of people I know, but do not know so well that I become uncomfortable reading about anything personal, should they choose to disclose it. I continue reading their LJ as long as I don't read a lot of "my life sucks, wah wah wah" posts... which means that some of the people I love best do not get their LJs read. :P ).

I know a LOT of people on my LJ friends list are probably whining like their favorite show got cancelled. :P Just.. gads. I wish people grow up - whether they're crying about losing or crowing about winning. I don't care. I just wish people would make private posts about it (y'know, posts to themselves) and then after a few days, if they still feel strongly, write something.
