While I was away, the mice did indeed come play at my personal site... I've been comment spammed! Twenty - literally - nonsense comments on EACH piece with links to on-line gambling. Bastards.

Whelp, I was considering cutting off comments there anyway, since perhaps two people have deigned to leave remarks there anyway. Good excuse to make it so. (done)

Must not get distracted updating and re-designing that until I've got some other EMG stuff out of the way, primarily: paying artists. Today's the day! Woo! Got everything I need, and I don't imagine it will take more than a few hours. Horrah. And, somewhat to my surprise, EMG has plenty of money to cover all of it. A bunch of matted prints sold at Kristen's, and some cards, while I was gone, so that was a nice little influx, and I got the checks from my credit card proxy for the pre-Christmas sales, which was Very Nice. Not as nice as some years thanks to leaving early, but still quite a chunk. I could do the year-long advertising package at Epilogue if I decided that was the way to go - though frankly, I'm not real impressed with them right now. I'm thinking a Wet Canvas sponsorship may be the better way to spend that money. (Half that money, no less) (I think I'm still nervous about the previous year's huge year-end t-shirt purchases that made paying artists empty the reserves...)

I have to sit on my hands not to go buy the Epson 4000... but I don't know many artists who work large enough to make that worthwhile, and I should beef up what I've got going before spreading myself out more. Also, I have no room for it.

Okay, having talked myself off that rooftop, it's back to work again!!

Oh, hey, I wanted to tell you - the t-shirts went over fabulously. ^_^ There was a snafu, though - I sort of forgot to tell you my new address, so it all got sent to California, and my address change hand't gone through yet! Fortunately, Robin was able to talk a nice person at the post office into forwarding it for me (since she had all of the delivery slips and had another package to send to me), so it got here before the holiday and Christmas was saved! Or something. :)

Annnyhow, the point is - I need to change my address with you! And then I'll have to do it again in about 40 days.

dontcha just hate those damn spammers? It sounds like you're a busy woman. Good for you!!! Someday, when I get better, I may have you do some stuff for me too. Maybe. I gotta practice more. Have fun paying people. I used to do payables for a corp. and wrote checks weekly. Fun and games. We did 100-150 checks a week. Thank God for computers. ;)

Argh, I hate spam. :(

What printer are you using now? I am considering an Epson Photo 2100 (The equivalent of the American 2200), but am not sure if it's the right one for me.

Spam is horrid.

I use the Epson 1280, the kid sister to the 2200, and I have to recommend it. It's a quarter of the price, and the ink technology is one step lower in terms of stability, but still archival, and the print quality is every bit as good.

The downsides (in a side-by-side comparison): bundled color cartridges. If you use a lot of blue, that's going to be your limiting agent and you'll have to replace cartridges more than you should. The 2200 has separate color cartridges. Slight difference in years of archival. (1280 - 20-30 years, 2200 - 30-50 years*) Note that MOST of a pieces archival properties are actually in the paper: do NOT use Epson brand papers; they don't guarantee they are acid-free.

Pluses(in side by side comparison): It's cheaper. A LOT cheaper. Prints the same sizes, takes up less space on the desk. Quality is every bit as good.

*Take these with a grain of salt. When the 1270 came out, it was 'oh, these will last 100 years!!' Later that was downgraded. When the 1280 came out, it was the same story, 'oh, these will REALLY last 100 years.' And I think when the 2200 came out, it was the same thing all over again... Wilhelm research does third party testing, so they ought to have some reasonable scoop on how they've held up to date. (a google search on 'wilhelm research inkjets' should turn them up)

Thanks! It's nice to get a professional opinion.

I've heard about the problems with Epson paper, so definitely won't be using that. I like the idea of seperate colour cartridges, so I'll probably dig into my pocket and go for the 2200.
