Dragon*Con has turned into a serious buttload of expense. >.< Nearly $1300 for the hotel. *falls to the floor clutching chest* The plane tickets were cheaper! Thank heavens I got a good deal on THOSE. I keep forgetting that things sell out in the rest of the world, and are more expensive, and have huge taxes added to them. Up here, generally, you get to a hotel unannounced and people fall all over you because they haven't had human contact in three days. Okay... maybe not quite that severe until you get waaaay out in the boonies, but you don't generally have sell-out problems. I don't think.

Man, that had better be a nice room. *angry stomp*

Okay, finish artists pay. Finish EA book.

Holy crap, that is indeed a lot for a hotel room. How many days is that for?

Defintely!I haven't gotten up the nerve to submit art for DC yet, but this will be my 3rd year attending. It is sooo much fun!I would love to set aside a time to meet whoever from EA that is going and maybe catch a bite to eat together one night. I will be arriving on Thursday and staying the whole time.

Expedia had the exact same prices but was sold out two of the nights. I didn't check priceline...

I just looked to check location. Why not rent a car and stay out in the 'burbs? I often find that a cheaper route. Even better if you can find a place that does "suites" in that they include a kitchen and basic supplies. Then you hit up the grocery store and save big bucks there too....

That's usually how I travel, but since I'm vending, I'm going to have a LOT of stock to shlep around, and the idea of trying to commute with all of it gives me cold chills. I'd pay a little extra to be on-site. I also may be bringing a printer and laptop, so as to do on-demand printing, and that would be a nightmare between hotels.

Are you actually going to pack everything up every night?

It would seem like the distance from the parking lot to the ballroom (or whatever space) can't be all that much different than the space from hotel room to ballroom.

And if you don't pack everything up every night, as far as keeping an eye on stuff, you're just as far away in a hotel room upstairs as across the city, as far as actually being able to do anything...

Just a thought...
Do what will bring you the least amount of stress....
